Tale Of Kabr

I am the Speaker, friend of Guardians and agent of the Traveler. Many Guardians come before me and I help them deepen their connection to the Light and delve further into their own gifts of the Traveler. I come before you today to recognize a Guardian stronger and wiser than any I have known. He broke the House of Kell into factions by himself. He single handedly slew Crota’s child. He alone conquered the Gate Lords, forcing them to do his bidding. He was a strange man. He was called many things, and not all of them kind. Some named him Breaker, to some he was Crota’s Bane, and to others he was Kabr the Legionless. I myself simply called him friend. This is the story of his fall into madness… He came to me speaking of a discovery during his travels on Venus. Many Guardians patrolling there spoke of feeling an odd warping disturbance. Kabr went to investigate, and found many Vex there. They were of a variety that he had never seen, bigger and more complex than any others. He scouted them, marking their movements for weeks and learned their purpose. They were guarding something. He came to me in the Tower and told me that he would embark on a quest to discover what might be there. He said that he felt that the Traveler spoke to him, and that there was something that only he could do there. So he left. Many a time I think back and remember him standing as his ghost prepared to take him, and I wish that I had stopped him. But I remained silent. I could not interfere with the Traveler’s will. It was months before he came back. Suffice to say that I was relieved to see him. But, when he came back he was not the same. He was battered, covered in grime and blood, and for some reason seemed to be wearing armor fashioned from the body parts of Vex. I could have sworn that his eyes shone red beneath his helm as well. He told me that there was indeed something on Venus. He said that there was a place where time bent, cold with darkness, near to the point of shattering. I could tell that though his body was on the Tower, his mind was still there in that dark place. He said that Guardians would have to be sent to destroy this place, but that he must break the darkness and forge the light there first. I must tell you that I wept to see my friend in such a state, but beyond my mask nothing could be seen. I helped him in all ways that I could. I bathed him in the Light of the Traveler to heal him, and gave him a teleporter. He told me that his ghost had been devoured in the darkness, lured by the siren song of an exploding star. I had no idea how he made it to us without the ghost but I sent him back. It was the last time I saw my friend. I remember his last words to me, as he stood staring into the horizon, seeing things only he could see: “If you hear my voice again I am no longer Kabr”. He told me this, yet I sent him off because I felt that the Traveler wanted this to happen. His light forged a relic allowing guardians today to conquer the darkness, and destroy Atheon. So Guardians, know that when carrying The Aegis that he sacrificed his soul to make, Kabr walks with you. Of my eons of service to the Travler, it is the one decision I regret. Could not he spare this one soul? His greatest champion battled for him, slaying legions of the Dark, and yet he sent him off to die. -------- Bump to share! ^_^ Heroes of Twilight Gap https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/81128446 Thorn/Last Word Back Story (complete) https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/75736860/0/0 Toland's Legacy: The Forging https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/78149101/0/0 Short story I wrote (not related to Destiny) http://www.wattpad.com/story/17685659-troubled-travels Coming Soon: Super Good Advice: Words To Die By Cryptarch ' s Secret

Nice. Reposting this. "How did Kabr open the Vault if he was alone?" Considering that the guy was enough of a badass that he managed to convince a gorgon that IT didn't exist by beating it to death (then presumably built the shield just by punching it. It moulded itself out of terror), I wouldn't be surprised if Kabr just punched the doors to the Vault open and that he had affectionate nicknames for his fists (hence "no one was with me, but I was not alone"). Then he punched the Templar so hard that its shield broke and it teleported somewhere with a smaller chance of getting punched by Kabr. Then he went to the Gorgons' labyrinth. Punched one to death, made his cool shield. Punched and shield bashed another Gorgon until it led him to the two chests and the exit. Then punched it to death. There used to a be a large structure/bridge at the "jumping puzzle" but it was crawling with praetorians. Kabr punched all of them so hard that the only things left are chunks that keep popping in and out of the present. (Kabr was infamous for punching things so hard that the surroundings would sometimes become temporal anomalies). Vex scrambled to build the Mythoclast to kill him. Considering that Atheon is made entirely out of glass the Vex, being too far in the future to conveniently bombard Bungie with threads demanding that Kabr's fists get nerfed, really didn't want him anywhere near Atheon. Think about it. Punched the front door open. Punched a nigh omnipotent gorgon to death. Punch-built shield. Giant robot made out of glass? If Kabr got anywhere near Atheon he'd have one hit killed the giant shiny bastard. Kabr took one look at the Mythoclast, declared "OMFG OP AS -blam!-" punched himself to extract his own light, then punched it into the shield, making the ultimate weapon against the (understandably terrified and confused) Vex. Then Kabr died, performing an incredibly noble sacrifice that would aid the guardians to come after him in shutting down the Vault of Glass. But not without punching a praetorian so hard that three praetorians near it died while flipping off Atheon. His ghost was reluctant to leave him. But the Vanguard had to be informed, and Kabr would definitely have punched him if he didn't GTFO. Fast forward to now. Sensing guardians attempting to succeed where he failed, Kabr, now the shield, punches his way back into reality, his cleansing awesomeness nullifying the pesky green fanatic goo. All while the Templar and the Oracle endeavour to get rid of him. The Templar foolishly determined that it should just concentrate on killing the guardians, rather than trying to suppress Kabr. A fatal mistake. Now free, guardians are able to punch with him. (L1/LB to punch Oracle marks away, and punch away enemy damage. R1/RB to do a light punch. R2/RT to do big punch. L1/LB + R1/RB to do a REALLY REALLY big punch when Kabr wants to punch the Templar). The reason why two shields show up at the final Conflux? Kabr was a sporting man, but he's so eager to punch Atheon that he temporarily lets you use his other "fist" to kill all the scrubs (a level 30 praetorian to you and I, is a level 1 shank to Kabr.) Time's Vengeance is his way of telling all of you to "punch" Atheon as hard as possible. Once Atheon goes down, Kabr takes his leave. Lurking in the timestream. Waiting for Vex to punch. TL:DR version Kabr solves every problem with punching.

    • Kabr was shown the exotic reset patch by a snickering Atheon in the Vault of Glass. He was utterly destroyed by the experience.

      • Maxx--awesome creative work! I found the link below that gives some info on the literal meaning of the word "Kabr" http://www.hamariweb.com/dictionaries/tomb_hindi-meanings.aspx Evidently a Hindi word meaning tomb?

        • Loved the story. But Kabr's team was "expunged" from the timeline. So I'm assuming this is the perspective from the person who doesn't remember his team anymore? Either way, I like it fun read

            • Iv been raiding since the day the vault opened and 3 times a week both difficulties since then. Me and my raid team talk about the hidden treasures of the vault all the time but have made little progress to actually finding anything of value but maybe these thought can help others.. The gorgons: the only thing you don't kill in he vault? Tepmlar, gatekeepers, atheon and adds. Your damn near required to kill everything in the vault why is it that you can kill gorgons but you don't have to kill them to progress? My team tried killing all of them we got up to 3 a few times until we split up... Most of my raid team has corrective measures and are lvl 30s so we decided to split up and kill we got 5 down before what is normally the invincible one. He wasn't invincible when the others weren't around, sadly he spotted one of our members before we could regroup. Haven't gotten to that point again. maybe just a fluke. The second path: As most of you know for "the trials of kabr" there is a second path below the 1st ascendent chest. Why is there a second path if there's nothing down there? The lights... The lights is a big one iv seen on forums how there are red lights that are all threw the second path that sometime are blue? Personally iv never gotten them to turn blue and we've tried everything (not allowing a plate to be captured, nobody dying and not killing any praetorians) nothing changed. Possible dead end. The stairs: This is one i personally believe has something to do with the next chest. Has anyone noticed that in total there are 5 sets of stairs that appear? The normal set that splits into 2, the set down and to the right, and the set that takes you to the other time gate on the island. Now this is where I'm interested cause 9 out of 10 times the 5th set does not spawn but when it does it takes you right to the gate and the gate has a faint glow. Why? What triggers the 5th set to spawn? What opens the gate? And the last one. The relic: Why can it cleanse a gorgons gaze if at no point in the game are you required to bring the relic in the maze? And if the relic despawns after the boss fights? Iv seen videos of YouTube of people taking it into the maze and of one performing a cleans on a gorgons gaze. Maybe just the games code maybe the secret to truly being he vault. Let me know what you think these are just what iv seen and done myself to see if anybody can help put together the puzzle.

                • Kabr had nothing to do with the fallen splitting up factions neither did he slay Crota as he's obviously FREAKING THE NEXT RAID BOSS Is this just a make believe story for an already make believe game? I don't think making up stories for a story that already has a story is rather weird and slightly annoying to me Granted I believe that Kabr is a Titan worthy of a tower in the city named after him

I'll read it later but just saying Kabr didn't do anything by himself he did it with his team just that they were wiped/written out of existence by gorgons as to why all the tales are of him soloing everything
