• fan fiction as a "replacement" for a decent TOLD story (the story IS there but shitty narrated through subtitles read by dinklebot..=/ ) is pathetic.. (e.g. SUPER BAD EXCUSE!) and by sure it wasnt intentional. i believe that the leaving of the lead writer has lead to this desaster.. (see end credits: no other person is named) so either staten has had the copyrights for the story or the story wasnt finished at all and therefore staten had to go.. either was: its Fukkd!

  • Its a nice idea but I feel that its more of an accident than intentional. Bungie promised a story to rival the likes of star wars and harry potter, you don't get that by leaving most of it up to the players.

  • I agree, and prefer not being intrusively spoon-fed a story throughout the game. Room for some imagination is always good.

    • This sequel idea would make sense if the original story, made by the head Halo writer, hadn't been scraped. Things like trading, gambling between NPC and Players were removed. This video explains pretty much all. Not some rant, very condensed and organized. I liked it. > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZ5BpeHVTWY

    •
Me and a few of my mates had a massive discussion about Destiny's "lack of story" and we came to a very peculiar conclusion, While Destiny's story developed by Bungie is almost non existent what it does strive almost perfectly in, is allow the players to do great roleplay & character development. The game seems to have the kind of story that you can expand on with your own stories and ideas, Like fan fiction but based of your own guardians. A great example of this is my current hunter class who I have currently developed a three page word document consisting of everything from her back story before being a guardian to her future ahead in the destiny universe, I have even tied in the current story and some of the elements rumoured to be the in the DLC packs. My point being that not many games have the right set of tools and the right universe to properly expand characters at a level like that. Now im sure most players probably find that to be "Stupid" and "Silly" but most of the PC community has been doing it with games for years and from that Sequels have almost always been built around community ideas, stories and concepts from the wonderful fan fiction and so on that players have created. :) If your still unsure what im saying, here is a dumbed down summary of my current Hunter class's story and character to better understand what im on about with this post; https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B40d_zGnHnZCRTlCUXFrVXJTWGs/view usp=sharing I honestly feel that mabye Bungie planned for such a thing in the first place when they said "Create your own stories" but please don't take this as a post about why no story is a good thing, im simply stating an alternative to the issue. Note: Please excuse any spelling errors, grammar issues or missing words in the Google document
👍👍👍

      • There is no place for creativity here! You must understand the lore the way we want you to understand it, and that is by reading the grimoire, not make up your own stories! Take your imagination elsewhere!

        • LIke a lot of good art, it takes much on the part of the viewer rather than the creator, as is reality in most cases. I kind of feel this wasn't entirely intentional on Bungie's part though--to the extent that it really was. The concept could be extrapolated upon though for the future, I think Destiny comes off as a great kind of simulator in this way, rather than an already established rpg in a lore filled world. I still think there needs to be more available on the Destiny universe though. Nice story on your character.

        • There's probably some merit to the thought, but there needs to be a good solid base to work from otherwise fan fiction will be very fragmented and contradictory. It would be a mess. There is no solid base here. A lot of very intruding fragments indeed, but a story in need of a good cryptarch because at the moment it's pretty decoherent
