cant level up past 25
i dont know if its my game or not but i just cant get any armor that is appropriate for my level I HAVE BEEN PLAYING STRIKES FOR DAYS ON END AND HAVE NOT GOTTEN A SINGLE PURPLE ENGRAM AND HAVE JUST BEEN GETTING GREENS!!!!!!!!!!! i mean wtf i have been getting really bad rares none of them will help me level up any advice at all im vanguard rank 1 and i just cant get ast the quarter mark any advice at all people?? like seriously anything will elp at this point this is my third controller you will really be saving me some money

1 ReplySince you are a beginner, you need to level up crucible and vanguard to rank 2 each to buy the legendary gear that you need. Crucible is faster as long as you win and you should choose something like team death match since the games are short and fast. Always pick up bounties that you know you can complete since it will boost the rate of reputation gain. Another way you can do it is by farming tiger strikes like you said but it's luck based. Even if you don't get a legendary drop, you will raise your cryptarch level every 12 engrams and have a chance to get a legendary in his packages. I was on my third character that was a different class than my others and just got to level 20. I had exotics saved up for him and 9 legendary armor engrams saved for him. I got all legendary armor except the boots. I had 3 legendary engrams for boots but two turned into a different class and one turned into materials. I processed to farm tiger strikes at level 25 that same day. I got a legendary engram for boots but it turned into materials yet again. After leveling up my cryptarch 3 times that day, I got another legendary engram for boots and I finally got it. It's entirely luck based but at the same time you are leveling your vanguard level and getting a chance for drops. If I were you, I would compete all the bounties for both crucible and vanguard then start farming tiger strikes. Good luck

Fastest way to lvl up is get your vanguard rank to 2 and buy all but the head from the vendor with marks. Buy the exotic head from Xur. Run the daily on 28 and do 1 public event a day. That is all you need to do to get to lvl29. Everything else you do will be just bonus chances to get there faster.

Rank up a faction so it gives rep for both strikes and crucible and do a lot of bounties

always do your bounties. screw the crucible till you have some good gear the rest is just luck.

Here is the trick, pay attention: Do as many dailies as you can each day, patrol will net you a decent chunk of faction rep especially if you are required to via the bounty to do 6 patrol missions, double whammy. Once rep is lvl2 with vanguard and/or crucible vendor, boom gear, assuming you have enough marks. Done, SO EASY!

You could try buying some armor from one of the factions. You could also wait till xur gets back and buy an exotic.

Do bounties that coincide with strikes like collecting tears, get kills without dying, kill majors and ultras and so on so forth. Lvl that vanguard rank

7 RepliesI seriously have no clue how the vanguard reputation and rank system eludes people. Seriously its not rocket science. Do your PvE bounties everyday, run as many boring missions on whatever planet you want till your brain explodes and Finish the weekly's. Get to rank 2 and buy your damn legendary gear. WTF IS SO DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND?!

1 ReplyJoin a faction. If you join a faction both vangaurd and crucible reputation will go to your faction making it sooooo much faster to purchase legendary armor. Ive been level 29 for weeks now so trust me it works.

1 ReplyDon't count on loot drops, the loot system is broken in this game. If you want loot drops go play Diablo 3 or Borderlands. Level up your vendors, and run the daily story and strikes to gain currency and buy those -blam!-ING legendaries. It was the only way I could get to lvl 27. I've been playing for around 60 hours I think, and I've only ever had one legendary drop for me. Like I said, loot system is broken. TheMattGraham on PSN

Patrol or do strikes to level up your vanguard so you can buy there armor and level it up you will at least hit 28 I did it but now I traded it out for raid gear and I'm back at 27

6 RepliesYou need to do the Vanguard bounties and (sadly) play patrol missions (You can also farm materials for upgrades that way) Like others pointed out you could join a faction (By buying the faction's item, its a cape, bond or mark depending on your class sold by that faction's vendor) Please note that joining a faction means starting earning their reputation from level 0 so it might not be as fast as sticking with vanguard that is already at level 1 like others suggested if you do not play crucible often. Good luck and play the bounties with buddies so you don't get bored to death...

In order to reach vanguard level 2, when you can start buying the armour you need, you will have to do lots of vanguard bounties (given by Xander 99-40 in the tower) and ground missions. And I mean lots. Vanguard marks can also be earned by completing public events, preferably at gold tier. There is lots of stuff on where these occur on the web. Again this will take time. There are no magic short cuts in this game, unless you are very lucky. From level 24 onwards it's a bitch. Welcome to the grind.
