This Iron Banner 2.0 is sounding much better!

For those of you who read the weekly update youve heard that Iron Banner is returning soon. BUT this time the level differences will make a more dramatic difference, there is incentive to stay even if losing (no hopefully no more rage quitters). AND iron banner armor will hold up to 30 LIGHT! This means that raid gear is no longer the only armor that can boost you to level 30. So those of you that just cant seem to get your hands on that one illusive piece of raid gear here is an alternate route to 30. Although Iron Banner gear is limited to only two available pieces so 1 exotic and 1 raid piece or 2 raid pieces and no exotic will still be required to hit character level 30. I know that alot of you PvP players will be very happy about this. Whilist some PvE players might have a different opinion. What do you think?

  • I am a PVE player primarily, but I love this idea. PvP players need a way to 30 too. Honestly there should be a road to 30 that doesn't include the raid...

  • I really like a lot of the changes. The gear changes are very welcome. Not resetting rep was a smart move. The ability to Re roll gear is slick. I am concerned about the level differences being so extreme that basically only 29 and 30 characters are viable. A level 26 is a fairly high level character but it is 3 levels off from. 29 and 4 from a 30 level character.

  • I rarely play PvP but this excites me greatly. I like the IB weapons and I love having a different option to reach 30. Some of the raid armor looks like crap and not all the abilities are that good. Anything that increases variety is greatly appreciated.

  • As a mainly PVE player, I like the fact that PVP players can now reach lvl 30.

  • It's kinda weird PVE-ers are salty about the gear having 30 light. Not sure how it affects them negatively. I just hope the gear boosts PVP stats.

  • I like most of the changes, although people who quit out of IB should be penalized rather than have an incentive to stay that essentially makes loosing irrelavent. Also I don't appreciate that people can loose in PVP for level 30 gear. The raid might be random drops, but at least you have to complete sections of it to get the equipment. Now people can just afk in IB and get rewarded with raid gear.

      • I appreciate the new Light 30 Armor, as it presents new options to people like me who have had unfavorable drops for raid armor, but still requires we play the raid for a few pieces to actually reach level 30, thus not making the raid obsolete for leveling. (However, if one of them is a chest piece and that's all I get, I'm gonna be pretty upset, as I already have the raid chest and 2 exotic chest pieces I want to use but can't if I want to be level 30, unless I get the raid helmet, and hahaha that's funny." As for the losing thing, I don't really like it. Why? Well, it's a game type about proving yourself. If you lose 1 then win 1, why should you get the same amount of reward as the team that won 2. As for the team that lost like 3 or 4, they'll win eventually and have all the rep of if they had won 5 times. I hate that this had to be the incentive to stay in matches. Hell, I hate there had to be an incentive at all. The only time I have ever left a game was because my fireteam leader left and I got dragged with. I don't associate myself as either a PVP or PVE person. I play both quite often.

        • doing pvp to get lv30 gear sounds more fun , because there I can seamlessly matchmake one game after the other and work towards it while playing , as opposed to raid where I have to spam forums for hours just to get a party which might not even turn out to be good

          • Message to Bungie for what we expect from the next Iron Banner: The last one was "80% skill and 20% gear." That's how the STANDARD crucible should be. The Iron Banner should be "80% gear and 20% skill." When I was level 7, I stumbled into a cave with level 18 Hive Knights and got ANNIHILATED. That is what SHOULD happen. It should take a lot of skill (and some luck) for a lvl 22 to beat a lvl 28 in the Iron Banner. If the goal of the Iron Banner is to bring everyone to PvP for a week, then it's just a bad way to do that. Adding a new game mode like Salvage is a better choice. Iron Banner should be a way to bring high-mid level players to PvP to "prove their worth" against gear advantages. The last Iron Banner was called symbolic of Destiny itself. We were promised power matters. We were expecting something radically different and instead we got something...I don't want to say exactly the same, but not noticeably different...than the crucible. This mirrors the launch of Destiny itself. While I agree that the Iron Banner was "misrepresented" before its launch, I do have a message for the community also: Something you saw in the ViDoc is not a promise that it will be available in the launch. Some things get cut because they just turned out to not be fun (like gambling). Other things are cut for time. Just because an area is fully rendered and/or burned on the disc does NOT mean it is ready to be played. "Just throw some baddies in the Seraphim Vault and let us in" - CoD players. A lot of work goes into creating, testing, balancing an area, besides modelling the landscape. You will have access to that stuff when Bungie is ready for you to access it and the mere fact that it exists is not evidence of malicious intent by either Bungie or Activision.

            • I hope it's not lucky reward from a match like Timur's Lash because RnGesus absoloutley hates me when it comes to 30 light gear! So I hope I can buy them with marks or something else besides having RnGesus smack me in the face again for the 100th lol.

            • I don't understand people who don't like this. Level 30 barely does anything different than 29 and it will make the high level characters look more unique.

              • I think the new level 30 IB gear is great. Now we won't have to be forced to just raid to get to 30, and with three different options for level 30 armor (exotic, raid, and IB) we will hopefully look a lot more diverse when we get to level 30 instead of the same exact raid gear.
