You can't argue this evidence. Destiny isn't Destiny.

This video really hits the spot with how I'm feeling. I love this game, but why don't I really feel like I love this game. It's hard to explain & this video touches on most of the reasons.

  • I am sorry, but Bungie are the KINGS of over promise and under delivery. A lot of blind fanboyism over the years has given them reason to repeat mistakes like this, with same previously mentioned fanboys protecting them from rightful criticisms by literally saying it's okay to release trailers/videos and cite "Not final release/You made the mistake of not acknowledging it was Alpha" despite the game CLEARLY lacking from its predecessor shown at conferences or vidocs. Frankly, the butt kissing Bungie apologists and people like them are the reason why some big budget developers aren't held accountable and why I wish they picked up tiger electronic toys and got away from gaming. 343 is prospering so well without Bungie. No, they are not the same despite the people they kept. Clearly there is a change and a better execution of narrative, whether it's through terminals or newly done and updated cinematics. I only mention them because they have mastered the art of integrated story telling through the game and not poor tactics like grimoire cards or micro dialogue NPCs speak of. Let me point out to you Halo 2, and how Halo 2 was supposed to be deeper. (take the multiplayer nostalgia glasses off) - Do you remember the E3 show where Bungie showed off Halo 2 for the first time? And Master Chief was set to descend on Earth City? That level turned out to never be in the final game. And a lot of the content was cut. Not to mention the inexcusably poor cinematics that had tons of pop in textures. Also look at their trailers for the games they made. Very beautifully executed - emotional, captivating, raw with a daunting sense of "reality". One that faces a threat from the cosmos. Remember Halo 3's awesome diorama commercial? ALL of the trailers were much more hard hitting than the game itself, which never remotely posed the visceral impact of an earth invasion - something that Mass Effect 3 nails perfectly, outside its botched ending. Halo 2 and Reach? I have never seen a more pathetic invasion of earth or a space colony ever, irregardless of the size of force used. The battle for Reach in the books was bloody, grueling, ridiculous. You play the game and it's a few things on fire. Bungie syndrome at its finest. And thus the process repeated: get glorious trailers with the reality of a slow, floaty shooter with poor dialogue and the main interactions with military NPCs being tongue in cheek eye rolling one-liners from them while the seriousness was mostly levied on interactions between Chief, Cortana, UNSC brass and Sgt Johnson. It wasn't until Halo 4 where story is nailed at you balls to the wall. You see -blam!-ing Elites penetrate humans with their energy swords, a tense interaction with Dr. Halsey and her interrogator and Spartans - presented wonderfully. Beautifully. Almost myth like - ALL DONE within the game. Destiny makes me pissed off not at how poor the game is - on the contrary. Destiny is the ugly girl who has the power to take off her 60s framed glasses, let her hair down, let her personality come out and be the hottest girl on campus. But right now it's over promising and being ugly and smelly and needs to USE its assets - Ships, Storytelling, Variety of strike content and not rinse repeating "Sepiks Prime "until I find myself saying it because the phonetics sound funny. Bungie started on a new leaf and needs to show they are not the same over promising, under developing devs that are the best at getting brown nosed on their own forums or defended by mouth breathers who are arguing points vs CoD kids complaining about how overpowered auto rifles are or how sucky PvP is. First major DLC should be free - the Cabal, Vex and Fallen should be explained and fleshed out immediately. But I know you want to make them into DLC, Bungie. How boring. Basically, stop making me go to Reddit to grab the game's completely (in a good way) insane and hidden lore. It doesn't make it special or mystic that I have to take these steps. It's annoying and should be in the game. You aren't cute, special or M Night Shyamalan in his prime. It's not sophisticated. Without story your game is just a repetitive hot mess with no motivation. Actually, it is all that already. But thanks for executing gun play down perfectly. Don't pull a Halo 3, Bungie. You basically gave me an FPS WoW with three classes and four dungeons and a level 20 cap. I am embarrassed.
