Legendary Drops Based on Level?

It seems like it.

I don't think so.

It's possible...

So I wasn't sure if this is true or not or just based on luck but here's how it goes. During Tuesday when the weekly nightfall and heroics were out I decided to level up a few exotics that were lying around. Playing as a warlock I threw on my light beyond nemesis and dropped my level from 29 to 28. Here's where things get interesting, during the daily heroic I managed to snag a legendary engram for finishing it, plus another from the cryptarch (which to my dismay both became ascended materials) through a cryptarch package. Still wearing my not fully leveled helmet I then went to do a strike with a friend only to find after we had wiped out a few enemies for me to see an actual legendary engram drop. Now to sort of put it out there I have not seen a single drop since the cryptarch patch so this was a rare site, so I picked it up and after that moved onto the black garden mission to kill the hydra for a bounty, only to then find ANOTHER legendary that dropped from a hobgoblin. I started to then feel like my level was sort of mattering at this point because while I was level 29 I had not seen a single legendary drop once. The next day after a raid I went back to level 29 and so far didn't find any drops. After awhile I went to my titan to do a few bounties to level his subclass a bit, only to then see a legendary drop appear for him while taking out a few enemies. My titan when the legendary popped up was level 25 and it sort of astounded me for a moment. So my question is this, does your level determine the odds of a legendary drop, have I just gotten lucky this week, or did Bungie sneak in a little patch like they use to and up the drop rate a bit, its up for you to decide.

  • I think it's just random mate I've played since launch and only got 1 legendary engram drop off a mob, but last night I was just messing around looking for public events and 2 dropped in the space of an hour.

    • I think its random based on team events, mist of my engrans are created by other players getting kills, I get lots of greens and a few blues, that said they get lots of blues n a few purples, and I'm killing more enemies than them as I don't just run off to kill the end bad guy on a strike. If people played as a team instead running just for the end goal you'd get more SBD better drops . This based on first hand experience.

    • Possibly I've noticed as a level 30 I get more legendaries.

    • I believe drops are tied to numerous factors. Overall KD ratio, accuracy and precision kills and your preferred choice of weapon. I used an auto rifle for two weeks straight and started to get auto rifle and shotgun engrams pretty much every time, then I got the hardlight exotic during crucible. I don't often play crucible and my skills aren't always that great but I had a surge of proness with a headshot kill streak and ended up unlocking the gun at match end.
