To those who have completed the main story of Destiny, I pose a question: Did you keep the Stranger's Rifle?
If you've completed the story, you should remember that the Exo Stranger we met on Venus warned us of terrible things waiting in the Darkness and gifted us with a rather lackluster pulse rifle.
As a level 16 weapon, I think it's safe to assume that most of us were well past the point of it being a useful upgrade. In the grand scheme of things, the rifle is probably mediocre at best, but the circumstances in which we were given the weapon lead me to believe that this is the first piece of something greater.
The moment was far too cinematic to be some one off source of salvaged parts.
Personally, I kept the weapon (and have cast my vote as such). I am convinced that the Stranger's Rifle will have a role to play in future expansions. I'm convinced there will be some quest chain that turns this lowly level 16 Pulse Rifle into a death-dealing powerhouse.
What do you think?

I keep one that I give to my alts when they hit level 16, after they finish the story I dismantle their newly acquired one; always keep the first (most upgraded) one stashed in the vault. ;)

Edited by PissedOffMidget: 10/23/2014 1:33:49 PMI dismantled it as soon as it let me. I didn't even fire it once.
-
i used it once i got it but it could not keep with the aggresive battle strategy i use
-
Lackluster? The Stranger's Rifle is beast in pvp! Also it was a pretty massive upgrade for me when I finished the story, didn't switch to a new weapon until I got Grim Citizen.
-
I had it until 2 days ago, it was that or a legendary handcannon... i can still get it with my other two characters, i haven't completed the story with them yet lol
-
So do you get this when you finish the story or just the first time you finish the black garden? Because I havn't finished my story, but did do the black garden in either a strike playlist or a weekly or something sometime. Could very well be that I have already dismantled it.
-
Its in the vault with my 3 khostovs lololol And its very possible.
-
dismantled one, kept one... leveled it up and now it sits in the vault, alongside my Khvostov...
-
Sad it becomes utterly useless in a short amount of time. Not to mention it's kinda ugly, bright plastic yellow gun. Though I kept it only because it light's up xD
-
its a beast for pvp
-
Bungivision isn't going to do shit with the rifle. Scrapped it.
-
this offtopic but never beat the black garden untill recently i hit 29 and ran though it on 28 and got a level strangers rifle
-
It is amazing on my lvl 18 Warlock. And with it I completely understand the underwhelming performance of Bad Juju. Seriously, if Bad Juju was just the lvl 20 exotic version of the Stranger's Rifle I think everyone would be happy. If the Stranger's Rifle was lvl 20 I'd consider it one of the best weapons in the game. Perfect stability (the gun doesn't even move), decent impact, high rate of fire... Only nitpick: it feels like it should do Arc damage. I mean, the bullets have the same trail as the Wire rifle that the Vandals use.
-
stashed it and used it with my hunter then stashed it again
-
Stashed in my vault for my future aspiring Guardians. It's a very fun gun to use both Pve and Pvp too.
-
I saved it, and it has helped level my second character. My third character will get it when he hits 16.
-
I still use it in PvP. It's one of the BEST pulse rifles in pvp out there IMO; superb stability and decent firerate, and it's a 3sk too. And there's an exotic with the exact same game model as the stranger's rifle. It's blue instead of yellow though.
-
Worked well into 22's for me fully upgraded. I do not think it will play any vital role in the future (unless they buff it or give it an exotic bounty to upgrade to exotic, which I have 3 so that would be nice.
-
used it for my second character once i hit 16 very useful
-
Kept it. Even used it for a while: I was level 18, and mostly had level 16 blues and greens. The Stranger's Rifle was looking pretty good, then.
-
It's still rather nice in PvP
-
I kept it. All three of my characters still have them in their inventory, maxed out but collecting dust. It was a gift, and the only way of getting one was that particular point in the game. Any gamer should realize the latent importance of such items. You would be a fool to trash Wirt's leg...
-
I think it will remain crap, but I kept it as a souvenir

Why keep it everytime u do that mission u get one. So it's stupid to waste a slot for storage.
