Exactly What Transpired in VoG?

This thread may contain spoilers. This is for people whom seem to not understand. This thread is not to complain about how its presented. If you read the grimoire cards and/or generally interested in the story, do respond. This thread is to discuss the story behind VoG, not your opinions on how its presented. The Vault of Glass holds significance and the remnants of one before us who has made a sacrifice so that we, Guardians, shall succeed in conquering the mystery of Vault of Glass. "I have destroyed myself to do this. They have taken my Ghost. They are in my blood and brain. But now there is hope." What is it that is sought in Vault of Glass? Yes, we seek the riches that grant us more light but do we care to remember the one before us whom is no more? A brother lost. A Guardian whose form is now taken by the darkness ("Now it is done. If I speak again, I am not Kabr") so that we conquer the enemy who wishes to erase our names from the books of existence. "From my own Light and from the thinking flesh of the Vex I made a shield. The shield is your deliverance. It will break the unbreakable. It will change your fate." So what exactly happened in the Vault of Glass? What is it that we seek to do? What are we seeking to change? Are fighting against the shadow of Kabr? We should remember our brother each time we enter the Vault of Glass. Every time we fight against the Templar and destroy him, it is to honor the sacrifice of Kabr. For what he has done he has not, yet he has, for our existence to carry on. Express your thoughts and opinions. For the record, the more I dive into the backstory, the more this game intrigues me.

 • Who? It's a shame that the story in this game is presented in such an... unpresented way. Most of the time I have little to no idea what is actually going on. I have some form of a tedious idea, but I'm not invested in my actions one bit. In games like BioShock or even Mass Effect, I lap up the story content like a cat laps up a bowl of cream; every last drop, but the milk is sour here in Destiny. I took one sniff at the beginning and turned away. Hurray for cat analogies.
