My Thoughts on Thorn

I have used Thorn religiously since I acquired it, and I have completely upgraded it, energy and all. It needs a buff. I don't want it to be OP, I just want it to be comparative to Hawkmoon and TLW. I'm going to go through each of Thorn's stats and perks to give a thorough piece of feedback. RoF: This is perfect how it is. The high rof makes body shots viable when your opponent gets the jump on you, and you don't have time to aim for the head. Also useful when breaking shields and/or minotaurs. Impact: A little low for a high level HC, although DoT is supposed to make up for that. Range: Okay, Send It is supposed to help, I'll get to that in a second Stability: Not as bad as one may think, once you adjust to it, it feels like standard recoil Reload: Atrociously slow. Even with reload gauntlets. Increase this by about 13 (yes, the bars actually have corresponding numbers. Check the app) Magazine: 6 is pretty low, although I think it'll be okay if reload is improved and my Mark suggestions are used. Total ammo: Thorn seems to have less reserve ammo than even other Hand Cannons, which is unfortunate, because it tends to burn ammo pretty quickly. Ballistics: All personal choice, not much to say here Last Round: Currently, this doesn't feel like a perk, it feels like an apology for having such a small magazine. Increase reload speed and this has a reason for use. Choice Slot: • Snapshot - kinda useless on a primary. Specials are usually the weapons you're drawing in a tight situation, and both of the other perks offer more utility • Send It - a great perk on other Hand Cannons, but only okay on Thorn. Thorn's base range is higher than a lot of HCs, but that also means you don't get the full boost of Send It. I say give us the full boost, or just give us rangefinder. • Perfect Balance - gives a massive boost to stability, which is a boon to whoever needs it. However, increasing range, especially for PvE, is always my number 1 goal. Mark of the Devourer: Thorn's signature perk. A great perk, although it needs some tweaking. First of all, I believe the impact on Thorn is less than most HCs because it is intended for the mark to make up for the difference. This is fine, until you realize that it only applies to the first shot, and then the rest of your bullets are neutered until the timer runs out. I have 2 options to solve this: 1) Each shot renews the timer. This is ideal. It would allow Thorn to reach higher potential, without becoming overpowered. 2) Since 'Devourer' implies that we are absorbing something of the enemy, let us be healed by the same amount of damage the DoT does. In PvP, it would be just like the damage, 6 or 7 for body and headshots. In PvE, it could use those same numbers, since it's a percentage of your health. It could have a stack limit of 1, to prevent users from turning mob groups into health packs. Additionally, change Thorn's DoT to poison. I know it exists in game, because I've received it from the hive, which Thorn is connected to already. It just doesn't make sense for an incendiary grenade and a cursed weapon to be doing the same type of damage. Thanks for reading, and hopefully I gave you some usable ideas, or at least points to consider.
