Look at your map designs! With the exception of a few...the autorifle-shotgun combo is optimal; even with these adjustments!
Don't just look at the raw data and say, "The weapons must need adjusting." Look at your maps! Yes, they are fun...but there aren't that many the encourage a scout rifle. What maps would you suggest are good for a scout rifle (outside of the moon)?
Hand cannons are hard to master in PvP where missing one out of your measly amount of rounds is certain death and your enemy is an unpredictable human and not an AI. I tried using Thorn and it got me killed more than anything. Land all your shots? Great! Now take entirely too long to reload while someone pummels you.
Does anyone else not see this? Bungie, consider the environment too.

There's an exotic hand cannon that has 8 or 12 rounds and shoots really fast and accurately
-
Guys just use green guns they have for impact than any exotic you will get your hands on.
-
I couldn't figure out why some exotic bounty was killing me in pvp. I know I suck but shouldn't be THAT bad! Then I decided to try the 'cheap' auto/shotgun combo and got the bounty within an hour after trying for at least a week. I just always avoided them because people would go on about them being unfairly balanced or cheap.

New Nightfall Strike has Arc Burn? Nerf all Arc weapons.
-
Practically every single Fallen is using a shockbased weapon... ergo they need to be nerfed significantly. There must be more than one way to take us down. Even for the Fallen there should be no single way to beat EvP (is it so from their perspective?^^).
-
I guarantee that in every FPS the auto-rifle is the preferred gun by a vast majority of players it doesn't make the weapon over powered just preferred. Weapon Nerfs should be avoided IMHO
-
I understand where you are coming from. The level designs are almost all close quarter based, and when you snipe the ai is very quick to hide and stay hidden. It makes auto rifles more tactically efficient, not over powered. Also, hand cannons are amazing PvE.
-
I don't know, my handcannon/fusion rifle mix works quite well in all game types.
-
They didn't change the auto rifles because they were used more than any other weapon. Bungie noticed that auto rifles were being used frequently and then looked at why. They were the better choice in almost every situation. Pulse rifles were almost never used. Scout Rifles were used even more rarely. Auto rifles aren't even bad after the nerf. They're still perfectly viable.

Try using the the last word that gun is beast
-
They havent even fixed the terrible control balance on Blind Watch. How hard is it to fix that crap?

Edited by Mike Lawrence: 10/28/2014 8:12:38 PMIt's all about the maps. If they had a large wide open map everyone would be screaming for sniper rifles to be nerfed. Great players can make up for this a bit but CQC style maps are always going to favor ARs and shotguns.
-
Yes alot are close quarter but even on moon when I need my sniper scope to see the enemy my screen shakes and tic tic tic dead by auto rifle
-
Thorn is a perfect example of guns in this game. A postmortem kill.
-
Then maybe you are just bad. I only use thorn in PvP, and it's -blam!-ing amazing. It's a two shot head shot or three shots to the body for a kill. Doing this I outrage everyone using -blam!-ing suros regime (which I hate with a passion) and I do just fine even when I'm in close quarters. I use this hand cannon shot gun combo with deadly efficiency and I'm having a bad game if I get a 1.25 k/d spread. So if you can't use anything other than an auto rifle to get kills then maybe you just suck.
-
Agreed. I preferred the scout rifle until I started doing pvp, the maps almost force you into close quarters combat. I love the PvP and most of the maps don't get me wrong, the layouts just seem to favor the auto rifle.
-
This is exactly what i thought the second I started playing pvp, its no suprise everyone is ARs and shotguns cause the map design gives them a better advantage.
-
I honestly only really use auto rifle for this very reason when I used to play games like cod I always used guns with burst or single shots. But in destiny its very hard to do wrll without an ar. I would love to use my other guns but an ar in this game is kind of just an all purpose weapon whereas scouts you could only really use on the big maps with vehicles.
i haven't played cod since black ops and I don't want to go back
-
I only use pulse rifle and a fusion rifle... Im not very good, but The fusions are fun....and the only auto rifle I have is to hard to aim against real ppl. I think Some new maps will help with scout rifles
-
Actually, it's not a bad metric, because it acts as an abstraction for numerous factors that are otherwise hard to evaluate. A weapon that's popular across maps, modes, player classes, etc, is probably one that conveys some meaningful advantage. A weapon that is universally unpopular is probably underpowered. If you're interested in maintaining a playing field where all equipment is equally viable, you nerf the first and buff the second. I get the impression that Bungie is trying for a very level playing field with a static metagame. I don 't know if that will work out, but it strikes me as a good goal.

We really do need more map variety. Or maps (or mode) with cycling weapon bonuses. A sort of weapon Rock-Paper-Scissors. -- Magnetic Flux: All bullets do less damage -- -- Enervation - Melee: Melee energy does not recharge passively -- -- Solar Burn: Solar damage increased -- -- Weapon Favor - Hand Cannons: Primaries locked - Hand Cannons buffed damage and reload instantly -- -- Super Denial - Melee: Melee attacks drain enemy Super energy -- -- Grenade Denial - Scout Rifle: Scout Rifle damage drains enemy Grenade energy -- -- Subclass Lock - Void: All players locked to Void Subclass -- -- Weapon Favor - Auto Rifles: Primaries locked - Auto Rifles buffed range and stability -- etc - dynamic pvp mode

Bump for self-serving purposes. Ha.

Edited by julianwelton: 10/21/2014 7:29:48 PMAnother thing is most people just prefer a full auto weapon. People who play mp shooters, like COD, generally use full auto weapons.

That's real talk. I for one prefer sniper rifles to everything else but I also hate to lose which is why I always use my Suros. These maps are not conducive to long range engagements save for the moon one and Bastion on Mars. Other than that, it's all short to medium range engagements. Advanced Warfighter is going to bury this game when it comes out. Most of COD's maps are well thought out giving you the freedom to be able to engage both long and short range.
