Look At All Those Strange Coins
So I, like many of my fellow guardians, have a bunch of strange coins stacked in my inventory. The problem I see with this currency is that it may soon become obsolete. Xur shows once a week with items that are severely underpriced which means I can buy multiple items. If you combine that and the fact that I can only have 2 exotic items equipped at one time, it brings out a major flaw in the system.
There will be a point and time when the desire of doing strikes to earn strange coins will die out.
Here are a few solutions to the problem:
1. Raise the price of Exotics to rival the cost of Legendaries. (There's no reason I should have to grind 2 weeks for a Legendary Primary at the cost of 150 marks, yet I can buy an exotic after completing 2 strikes)

It's come to my attention, by reading multiple responses, that raising the price would not be a great idea. So maybe cross out #1 lol
2. Strange coins could be used to buy Ascendant Materials
3. Add interchangeable perk slots on weapons. If there is a gun you love that has a perk you don't prefer, Xur should sell single weapon perks that you can apply in exchange for it (for strange coins).

4. I still think Xur should only sell exotic bounties when it comes to armor/weapons. Therefore we buy the bounty, if we pass the bounty, we have earned our gear. This way, no price increase would be needed. Plus it would give us extra goals to shoot for
5. Have Xur sell Vangaurd/Crucible marks in exchange for strange coins. This would save us time and effort for those who don't play certain game types, and would encourage us to earn and spend our coins
6. Exotic Shaders
7. Add gun camo that can be bought with coins? Too crazy? I'm a dreamer lol
Those are ideas of the top of my head. List your ideas!

I just want to say... exotic is not better than legendary. Its just exotic. Exotic as in ooooh, aaahhh... And we can still get ascended material out of strange coins.. just buy something then dismental it.

Or use strange coins to buy slots for exotic gear and weapons so you can equip more than one exotic. Cost for each slot would be like 50 strange coins? Lol idk.

Ive been posting about this too and yes xur definitely need to increase exotic price. It you think of it, its easier to get exotix than to buy a legendary item from the tower because lf the marks weekly cap. Either put a cap on strange coins weekly or increase xur price. What i also had in mind was change the perks on what you get on finding an exotic from an engram and from xur. Makes the one you get from engram have better perk to make it more of a rare exotic that you can only get with luck.

I think Xur will change in the future in the things he sells. Things are always a bit bland in the beginning, no doubt he will be 'fleshed' out a bit more.

I couldn't agree more tbh, they need to bring in some form of use for the extra coins. I have lots of spare coins. I actually bought an exotic item just to destroy lol.

Have only managed to get a single group for weekly lvl 22 with randoms. And also, bought a red death when it was up. Have only seen 2 coins drop since (2-3 weeks). :/ got back to 25 motes by time second dropped.

1 ReplyI think the system was fine, the one and only problem is people spamming accounts racking up coins. If they just kept coins on each character you wouldnt have so many unless you had been grinding, instead people have 3 titans and do 3 strikes and done. I think you shouldnt be able to do this as it feels like an exploit to me

4 RepliesI could earn 100 strange coins a week by spamming and rushing through new characters and doing the weekly strikes. The problem is, there's never anything worth buying, so I'll get to 100 anyway, just from waiting.

3 RepliesSome of us don't have the time to gather more coins so by raising the price it puts it even further out of grasp! I personally will feel a sense of achievement when I buy my first item from Xur!

So while it may become obsolete for some players it will still be a way for people to eventually get something they want without just hoping it drops randomly. As it stands right now it is fine you can easily miss out on exotics he sells so people save coins waiting for something they want.

If xur gets people to play an extra 2 hours mining for strange coins every week his job is done.

1 ReplyThe game has been out for roughly over a month or two and we already have all the exotic weapons and armors. It's just way too easy to find these weapons and armor pieces, they're gonna need to come up with a more rare weapon and armor set if they want ppl to even care anymore. All i bought was 'Truth' this week and it was just because I didn't already have it, once we have it all Xur will be irrelevant.

He'll eventually have new items so he won't just become obsolete save the coins for new weapon/armor releases
