Long range weapons in the Crucible

When I play the Crucible I notice that auto rifles and shotguns dominate the playing field and with the recent patch they have received a nerf and longer range weapons in turn received buffs. However, the weapons and their stats are not the problem with how effective or ineffective they are in the Crucible, it's the maps. Of course auto rifles are going to dominate in most crucible games simply because the maps are mostly close quarters. So far there are only two maps that actually cater toward all weapon types and those are Bastion and First Light. These two maps give a lot of room for longer range combat and there are still areas of the maps that can still offer some good close quarters action. In my opinion the buffs to the scout and pulse rifles were somewhat unnecessary. If Bungie actually wants to improve the effectiveness of these weapons they need to make better, more well rounded maps where each weapon can serve it's purpose properly instead of just changing the stats and damage models.

  • I must say the auto rifle need a nerf on the range, because it must be a medium /close range weapon and not an long/medium range weapon. If you want shoot from far away use a sniper rifle.

  • I dunno. Every map has some long sightlines - you just have to find them. And pack a short-range secondary. I've been doing fairly well with A.1F19X-Ryl paired with Plan C for back-up. You definitely just can't rush into conflict, though - keep your distance and find your angles.

      LMFAO Auto rifles are suitable for all ranges, and have more range than pulse rifles (except for the strangers rifle which snipes) That is why they are so heavily used, it just makes sense Btw I'm not implying they are OP, just convenient.
