Bungie didn't tell the truth about the Vex Mythoclast nerf.

According to the 1.0.2.2 patch notes, the Vex Mythoclast received a 34% base damage nerf. While many people felt that 34% is too harsh of a nerf, the Mythoclast actually recieved a near 50% damage nerf. Before the patch, the weapon did 45 damage at point-blank range in the Crucible (source video). There are countless YouTube videos that exist that can verify this. After the patch, the weapon does 23 damage at point-blank range in the Crucible (my image). This is verifiable in game. This is nearly a 50% damage nerf, which is quite of a lot larger than the already controversial 34%. I have not recorded PvE damage numbers but they seem to reflect this. I am not giving an opinion on the nerf. I am merely presenting facts.

    • the nerf to the vex mythoclast was un-needed as some handcannons have a faster TTK with 3 shot kill, if the vex gets nerfed from 4 then the hand cannons need nerfing too especially as the mythoclast was more a scout rifle than anything

      • Could it be that they just compared the crit damage only before and after patch ignoring the change in the modifier itself? Before patch crits in crucible were 56, now they're 35 which is 37.5% difference - still not 34% though. The non-crit damage is lower by roughly 46.5% if my calculations are correct. IF base damage is something completely different from the numbers we see in game and there is some complex formula behind it, they shouldn't have said that A is lower then B by 34%, when they are actually showing us C and D, which differ by almost 50%. Agreed?

      • Of course they lied. I bet the CEO is cackling manically as we speak, while stroking his evil cat and weeping blood. You see, Bungie; being one of the most successful gaming companies out there, know that straight up lying about easily verifiable data is the best policy, because they stand to gain the satisfaction of pulling the wool over the eyes of their customers, and nothing else, but whatever... ...and since hash tags are the latest thing... #sarcasm #thinkbeforeyourant

        • Yup they straight up lied, no other possible explanation. Better post an accusation on the forums. Gotta remember to add some hot button hashtags like #facts and #honesty. No possiblity exists that damage is calculated different than you think, or the patch ended up creating a bug. Bungie just straight up lied and figured none fo the players would notice...yup...gotta be it.

          • I posted earlier that I don't see a big difference in PvP. Everyone still getting one shot shotty kills outside of the nerf range Bungie mentioned and everyone is still running ARs. Not that I'm complaining I just don't see what all the fuss is about. I do think the Vex and others shouldn't have been nerfed for PvE.

            • I base my opinions on PvE, and the gun is useless to me now, as I have legendary weapons that out perform the "penultimate exotic gun". Bring it back up to pre-patch stats for PvE, and just ban it from PvP (make it unfirable). It is an outrage that something so tedious to get (not only beating the vault on hard, but also getting the luck of the RNG) gets nerfed to uselessness in PvE simply because of PvP. I run out of ammo before I can blow up a single devil walkers leg on Devil's Lair.

            • As a person who worked very hard for my Mythoclast I am very sad with this nerd I had been fighting vex on mars and could hit upwards of 450 crit on a goblin and now can only push around 370. The gun is the equivalent of a rare auto rifle now the raid scout rifle (confluence) is even better at its base than the Mythoclast.

              • Is it possible the damage comparison was performed on players of different armor level/rank, and thats the damage discrepancy?

                  • You never know with these games. On the surface its simple math, but there are always other factors at work or maybe they just flat out lied...

                    • Is it possible your doing the math wrong in the first place. We don't actually know how crucible damage is calculated anyway since Bungie is very bad at communicating with the player base on these things or listen to the worst players when they want to nerf things.

                    • The 34% was on top of a 20% crit reduction so it was te correct number just stated in a different manner

                      • Could armour be a factor? Even in non Iron Banner matches, people have to choose between Agility, Recovery and Armour. I'm curious why they would lie? It wouldn't make any sense for them to lie.
