Please fix The Stranger's Rifle!!!

You know that gun you get when you beat the Story mode? The one our mysterious Exo friend carries? Anyone else think this thing is a need of a patch? It's a cool-looking gun, but unfortunately it's also kind useless; it's only Level 16, a Rare at that, and there are better Rare weapons to be found at Level 20. It also has some kind of glitch with the reload animation. Here are a few things that could be done to improve it: [b]1. [u]Increase level from 16 to 20[/u].[/b] At present, this gun is little more than a novelty, not the best choice when tackling challenges higher than Level 20. Vanguard Strike playlists, Heroic Strikes, Nightfall, Raid; I would not bring along this gun for any of these activities. It works fine in the Crucible and Patrol mode, but beyond that... Furthermore, this gun should get a higher Attack modifier than other Rare weapons; I'd say 267 max, when fully upgraded, just like the Rank 3 guns from [b]Queen's Wrath[/b]. [b]2. [u]Add Arc damage[/u].[/b] This gun appears to fire Arc rounds, but it actually only does normal Kinetic damage. What the hell? There aren't that many primary weapons, not even among Legendary and Exotic arsenals, that deal special damage. It would be nice to have at least one gun outside of Raid gear that deals special damage. Also, I'm in desperate need of more Arc damage weapons. [b]3. [u]Fix reload animation glitch[/u].[/b] I suppose this is a minor issue, but it's annoying all the same, and I'd like to see it patched. For some reason, this gun uses the Auto-Rifle reload animation despite the fact that it is a Pulse Rifle; as result, your Guardian sticks the magazine in the wrong way whenever you reload. Please fix.

  • It's a 16 rifle. By 20 you should have a legendary one from rep... or do you not do your daily bounties? I've finished the story 2x on my 3rd and have never hit 16 before the end of game... it's a nice hold over till 20 when all you have is bounties and strikes/crucible to get xp from.

    • Nice post. I think a level 20 version would be nice or even better - a legendary upgrade for it. Like a legendary sparrow upgrade.

      • The strangers rifel has static damage according to the website. So I'm gonna assume that it's something that was in the game in the begining but was taken out like other things.

I've though about this a bit, so here it is; an Exotic Bounty for the Stranger's Rifle (scroll down for the final reward). [b]Exotic Bounty: [u]The Stranger's Gift[/u][/b] -Investigate reports of the mysterious Exo Stranger aiding Guardians out in the wild. [b][u]Part I[/u]: The Black Garden[/b] The Stranger tells of a great evil hidden in the mythical Black Garden. Find the Black Garden, brave the forces of Darkness protecting it, and rip out it's heart. If you succeed, perhaps she may show herself. [b]-Complete "The Black Garden" on Level 28 with the Heroic Modifier active.[/b] [b][u]Reward[/u]:[/b] [i]A Strange Rifle[/i] [b][u]Part II[/u]:[/b] [b]Return the Strange Rifle to Banshee-44[/b] The Exo Stranger rewarded you with a most unusual weapon for your triumph in the Black Garden. You get an Exotic primary with Arc damage, a chance to chain lightning to multiple targets with the Exotic perk, and also the Oracle Disruptor perk found on Raid weapons; it seem fitting, seeing as you'd have to complete portion of the Raid to get the Exotic version.

            The Stranger's Rifle should be a Legendary weapon, no doubt about it. EDIT: Maybe even Exotic, given that it's unique among Pulse Rifles.

            • Maybe if she was in some story missions with you, mowing down vex, I'd agree. But it's just a decoration. "help I have better guns than this." is not really the best feedback I've ever seen.

            • It's great for alts. Which is a limited use, but still. It's meant to be a starter gun when you've hit 20 and are wearing mixed greens and blues. You're supposed to surpass The Stranger as a guardian. So it makes sense that her gear isn't that great.

                • I started a new character over the weekend and had the fully upgraded Strangers Rifle in the Vault ready for me to use when I reached level 16. It is such a great gun and has some nice stats except the Attack of 203, 215 when fully upgraded. I too was wondering why it was never a Legendary or at least a level 20 rare at 242 Attack fully upgraded. I feel an exception should have been made for the Strangers Rifle. It should have been made a Legendary but instead of a 247 starting point, it should have been 203 at the starting point with the option to upgrade to 300.

                    • Maybe added in a special bounty that turned it into a legendary after you reached the rank of 20? Mainly just upping the damage to it. Not a bad idea right?

                        They need a Story oriented, Mission+Bounty guided Upgrade Path for the Strangers Rifle. It needs to lead to increasing it's Level to *atleast* 20 Legendary/Exotic and adding Elemental damage to it. It should continue to be a viable weapon throughout the next 10 years imho.

                      • You beat the missions at 16. If they raise it to 20 you couldn't use it when you beat the story. The gun is buggy though, the full auto perk doesn't always work.

                        • I thought I was the only one that noticed the reload animation glitch! Finally someone else brings it up. It bugs the hell out of me. I love that gun too, and I wish they would do everything that you mention. I understand why it's a level 16 though. You can beat the whole game by level 16, so they wanted you to be able to use it. It would've been nice to get a level 30 gun to work towards though.

                        • Have you used this in crucible?! I get killed by it even when I'm using red death, an exotic pulse. If anything, it need to be nerfed in crucible. It's a three burst kill in crucible

                          • every non exotic weapon has the same model sans different shader and faction logo on it. Why did they bother making unique model for the first gun in the game where you throw away literally in 5 minutes and the strangers rifle...another gun that becomes useless shortly after. If not allready worthless when you get it.
