Blade Dancer Tactics

Fellow Hunters who wield the electrifyingly awesome Arc Blades this post is for you. I've maxed out both Gun Slinger and Blade Dancer with my Hunter. I happen to enjoy the jumps (blink) and some of the perks to BD over GS so that is how I role. I was wondering if anyone out there had some tips, advice, suggestions, or ideas about how to utilize this subclass well in both PvP and PvE. Here's some things I've taken away from playing this style of Hunter: 1) Blink can take a bit to master but it sure is cool. 2) Though I don't condone "bunny hopping" in PvP blink can be used to give you the edge. Remember, jump only when you must. Also, you can blink backwards. 3) If you have Arc Blade set as I do (with the area of effect radial blast of energy) you want to try and utilize an ambush approach to using your super. Remember, you have to be close enough to the enemy for the blast radius to work. Also, when you jump to use the ability to gravitate towards an enemy be careful of your surroundings; you can easily jump off by mistake doing this and the camera can cause you to lose line of sight of your prey rendering you almost helpless as they cap you before you get a kill. 4) Since you want to ambush your prey, use your invisibility perks wisely. 5) Be wary of fusion rifles/shotguns when you are invisible. Remember that a well trained eye in your prey can still perceive you even when "invisible." Speaking from experience, if someone runs around a corner and then runs back like they didn't see you, they often are wanting you to chase just so that fusion rifle/shotgun annihilates you when you turn the corner. 6) Be wary of your surroundings when kneeling to get invisibility. Don't do this in open areas. Be smart with your deployment of this. 7) Keep an eye on your melee and grenade cooldowns. Know when to use them or when trying will get you killed. (This one goes for any class/subclass) 8) Stay away from Titans with supers. My experience says that Fist of Havoc will always beat Arc Blade. It's had some (but little) effect on Ward of Dawn's bubble. 9) Unless you are fairly close, your fellow Hunter's Golden Gun super will always outperform your Arc Blade (even up close they still have a shot at taking you out). Beware Hunter's with Golden Gun. 10) In PvE, think out your engagements when using Arc Blade. NEVER try to use it on the boss/mini boss. It's to take out adds and trouble makers in your area. These are all I have so far. I'm interested in any other tips/tricks/hints/strategies/tactics, etc. that others have on how to better play this subclass. Like most of you I'm always looking to improve as a Guardian. Here's some questions I currently am pondering: What's some strategies for taking on Ward of Dawn as a Blade Dancer? Are there any? How can one combat Fire Singer's resurrection super with Arc Blade? Is there ANY strategy against Fist of Havoc? How do you know when the best time to activate Arc Blade is? These are just a few things I have observed and have been wondering about. I task you, Blade Dancers, discuss the best strategies of the trade. We need to prove why we are the best out there. See you starside, Hunters.

  • 1)You can blink strike while in the air. 2)If using blink be careful not to fall off. You can not recover and will die 3)shot THEN blink strike never the other way around 4) having faster melee as an armor perk can help counter act lag 5)always look more stylish then the warlock^^
