Spice Up Patrol / Faction Bounties (Make them Rewarding)

If I had to boil down what keeps a dedicated player, well, dedicated to a game in my opinion it is the reward of the experience. Destiny, as a shooter, has near perfect mechanics. The shooting, melee, and vehicles are superb. Though occasionally this is ruined by glitches leading to enemies that regen health and crucible opponents that lose all their health, but still have time to run up and melee or shoot after they're already dead and cause a double KO. That aside, the FPS aspects of the game are extremely rewarding. Your character has a sense of weight, but still moves fluidly, guns have kick, and nothing is more satisfying to ME than being a Titan and punching a room full of enemies in the face without even firing a shot. Especially those stubborn vandals and priests who eat one shot, swing their swords, just for me to duck or slide and punch them again, and vaporize them into dust. Destiny, in it's other aspects though.... sort of lacks that sense reward. No I will not re-hash all the usual complaints about story, RNG, etc. Instead, just a bit of feedback on how overhauling how rewarding our grind is. ONE example is Patrol / FACTION BOUNTIES: The radio transmissions, as it stands now, are not connected to anything. They are just there. I guess it breaks up the monotone, but really there is no point in your ghost saying, "I'll report back to Lakshmi!" etc, etc. My suggestion is to rectify this with a sort of Crafting System. I know, I know... you want us to find epic loot. But, this is not about loot really, it's more about reward / progression. Examples: -If Dead Orbit is giving me bounties for scanning alien technology, and they are a faction based on escaping to space, why not have them eventually offer exclusive exotic ship blueprints. REAL Exclusive, NOT repaints of some other low level ship. -Future War Cult is preparing for inevitable War. If they want me to scavenge flakes of Hive armor, or pick up Alien weapon parts, then have them eventually build up and offer replicas of alien weaponry. The Hive use weaponry that utilizes Arc (The Knight Boomer) and Void Damage (the Acolyte weapon) anyway. And The Fallen use mainly Arc, but also Solar (The Flak Cannon used by High Level Fallen and occasionally a Dreg). I mean what else are they doing with all those Cabal screws and armor flakes and Shank screws? Give it meaning. -New Monarchy wants me to slay all enemies of The Light, or slay prime targets, cool... what's in it for me? A little rep? Okay, my rep hits 3, then what? These bounties should earn me some sort of Monarchy exclusive perk. -The Vanguard, why not have special abilities, or Discounts. -Bounties from The Cryptarchs... if you're gonna send me off to fight some Wizard, Archon or Two Giant Ogres... why not give us a temporary engram boost for our troubles. Or maybe some special exotic item, like temporary cloaking that lasts 60 secs... or 15 secs of invulnerability or double speed health regen.... you know, normal RPG/MMO type stuff. Nothing you can abuse. Extremely rare items, earned from our countless hours of repetition, that can help out in an extreme pinch. Be nice to have a quick 15 seconds of boosted health, when you're the last man standing in Nightfall, and one shot away from everyone being sent back to orbit. Sometimes one extra chance is all you need, and it feels really rewarding when you earned that from hours of grind (Might I add: you might as well map something to the D-Pad anyway, hint hint). This would also be a good time to bring back faction shaders :^D Just quick idea that hit me while doing yet another, "Do 6 Bounties on _____" bounty and listening to the dialog before each objective. I'm just riding around.. Scan this, Collect this, Kill that, Scout this... but 12 rep points is of no real use to high level players. This would add a sense of reward, purpose, and even indirectly some back Story to the experience. Just something as simple as this could have given The Factions a whole new appeal and would have fueled a lot more interest and debate in figuring out how each faction plays a role in The Tower... other than just hanging out lounging and mumbling to themselves. Replay Value can sometimes be a very simple thing to generate. It also gives them some worth and usefulness for players who do not enjoy PvP. If they don't want to earn crucible marks to buy weapons and armor, they can still get some value out of building up rank and doing patrol missions. As it stands now... once you hit Rank 3 and have top notch gear... it's just another set of class items and emblems to have..... and maybe a random package with something useful. Anyway, just my thoughts...

I also thought this was a good idea from a fellow guardian / forum member:
Urgblatt 8h 26m ago Permalink Well said Sir, the characters in game go on about resources being scarce and hard to come by, yet you're forced to dismantle ships, speeders, guns and armour. Dead Orbit should offer rewards for unwanted ships. Future War Cult and the gun vendors should offer you Vanguard marks for unwanted weapons. The three Vanguard mentors should accept unwanted armour too. I have copious amounts of gun parts, plasteel plates etc just piling up in my inventory with little use for any of it. Bungie please take note and implement changes to Destiny's game world.
