A reason why AR nerfs won't work

There is one reason why everyone crying foul about ARs doing too much damage and them having too much range is not entirely viable. Even if you nerf those elements, the answer won't be balanced until you take note of one of the other advantages the AR has... Supression. Supression is one of the reasons why I find the ARs hard to fight against. Where as they get tiny bumps to their crosshair from my Hand Cannon shots, once the firefight starts, I find it rather hard to aim when my crosshair is on half-way to moon from thei AR. Even though I do feel they do rather much damage, and some (like Suros) have way too much range (I lost a goddamn sniper fight to one), I think supression is an element everyone should take into account.

  • Let's stop nerfing shit, my assualt rifle is worth shit on VoG now. Take one n half clips to take down and oracle, it used to be two thirds of a clip. I think iron banner should allow you to take in pve weapons all other crucible games should have their own seperate weapons pool, after all its a training facility. use training weapons ... Lije the first gun you get in the game ... Would be much more fun.

  • Noobs with shotguns and snipers, who cant handle an AR, cry because they get owned. The reason is not the AR but them sucking. They blame ARs, its always the weapon they dont use themselfs. The reason why is they cant handle the recoil and use 1shot kill weapons. So now stability gets nerfed for this. They dont use it anyway so who cares... The users do

    • Personally I blame the overall map design. It makes ar's and shotguns to efficient in pvp with how overall small the maps are and how quickly we can cover distances in this game. They favored two types of weapons over the others. A weapon here and there might need a small tweak but fundamentally I think the maps are the problem with how they are designed.

      • I categorically disagree with decreasing a weapons power...ever. If you have to bring all the other weapons up a little to compensate so be it, but I'm pretty good at autorifle critical hits and now they are going to decrease the effectiveness of those by 1/6...I'm used to how long it takes to kill various enemies with the auto rifle headshots, this modification is likely to lead directly to increased deaths because I'll cut my shot string short as I'm used to having 1/6th more damage done.

          • Auto rifle's are not overpowered people are just crying because most people use it. It does the less amount of damage of all the weapons a bullet will hit the head with 16 damage and it could take up to 15+ bullets to kill.. Are you joking.... Why don't you just get them to take the gun out of the game lol newbie

            • This reminds me of a familiar patch made on another shooter…Titanfall was it? Same thing happened. EVERYONE used the same AR (the only full AR) and the community B'ed and whined about it. A nerf came out, and the community was like "haha, now they won't use it cuz it suks so bad." Wrong. The use % WENT UP. It was now a challenge to use, and the users thought of themselves as rebels. Not long after, the complaints came back of "OP and overuse." The irony: Respawn put the stats back to where they originally were, minus a little in each field, and BOOM, hardly any ARs to be seen. Moral: THIS WILL NOT WORK. If anything it makes guns like Atheons rifle all but a garden hose. I will still use them though. I have 3 class set-ups, each a different profession, so I am only hindered on my main, who will continue to use ARs. Bungie will tune them back up, we just have to sit and watch the world burn until then.

              • I see little to no difference post patch in the AR. Very slightly less accurate but not enough that I can't hit people. Scouts seem more on par with hand cannons for precision damage. Haven't messed with shotties yet, don't really use them.
