Cepperz Pre-Attempt Guide to VoG Combat

If you're rolling with me, it is very likely that I directed you to this page before our raid attempt. Let me level with you. I'm patient enough to help members in my team develop the skills they need to overcome the raid, but not patient enough for blatant ignorance. This basic guide was created to prepare you for the various ways that combat will flow during the major battles. Depending on your group dynamic.. strategies, formations, and roles will change. Be ready for anything and don't get stuck into the "my group did it this way" mindset. Here's the TL;DR for my ADHD homies: - Purple Gear, be decked out - Void weapons are your friends - Communicate Clearly - Teamwork Mindset: You're not alone - Choose your targets wisely - Formation/Positioning/Roles - Watch the Timers - Be supportive [Purple Gear, be decked out] If all of your equipment isn't purple, you should reconsider the raid attempt. You'll only be slowing your teammates down by not being able to keep up with kills or spending most of your time regenerating behind a rock/constantly waiting for revives. Come with your best. [Void Weapons are your friends] The damage system is a way simplified version of Rock/Paper/Scissors. Instead of memorizing what beats what, you just look at the color of their shield and the color of your element. Match it up and you do double damage to shields. Fail to do so, and you'll be damaging at 50% strength. Tired of getting wrecked by minotaurs? Bust out that void weapon. Some classes have skills that deal void damage. Make sure you utilize all the void you can get. [Communicate Clearly] The PS4 comes with a mic/earbud set. Use it. Communication is key in these battles and usually there is so much happening that the only way your team will be able to adapt to a change on the battlefield is by yelling "ToastLord69 is up in 10 seconds! Focus this minotaur so I can revive him." In an instant you'll know exactly who's assisting, and which roles need to be filled. Make sure your messages are clear and concise, it's hard to make out important calls amongst terrified screams and gibberish. [Teamwork Mindset; You are not alone] Stay alive, and keep your teammates alive. If that minotaur is rushing you, call for backup. If you can't take out that hobgoblin, request some sniper support. If your relic bearer is being focused, take out those harpies and distract the boss. The team works better as a unit. Don't try to do things on your own and help those who are pinned down or close to death [Choose your targets wisely] A general rule of thumb is to focus on the squishier, more dangerous targets. Hobgoblins are always top priority. Kill them first. If you're not in immediate Minotaur danger, take out the Goblins first. Minotaurs soak up damage and wave their big guns around so that the goblins can bring your health down. The illusion of Minotaur danger is created because they finish the job after you were focused by 10 lesser goblins. Designated snipers should always know which enemies to shoot first. Hobgoblins, Goblins, then the Minotaurs once their shields go down. Harpies are unpredictable and you should always coordinate and focus fire them one by one. The faster you lower their DPS, the better. [Formations/Positioning/Roles] This one's a bit more complicated. You'll want to quickly identify the strengths and weaknesses of each member and assign jobs based on your entire group dynamic. Yes, there are better strategies that you could use, but you have to pick the ones that suit your team. Being aware during trial and error will help you figure out why something isnt working. Listen to your teammates and switch people around accordingly. Just because they did it in that Youtube video, does not mean it will work for your team. Be willing to adapt and try new things. [Watch the timers] The worst thing you can do is leave a teammate dead after his timer ran out 2 minutes ago. That's 2 minutes he could have used to helped take out goblins that are shooting at you. The relic has timers for each of its abilities. If you missed a cleanse or you want the relic bearer to shoot his super again, yelling won't speed it up. Also be aware that 10 seconds in a battle could severely alter the course of your progress. Don't leave people outside of a portal or let that oracle sit for too long. Time is of the essence. If you don't have a sense of urgency during these fights, you're doing it wrong. [Be supportive] Dampening morale by shit talking a member is worse than dancing with the relic during the Antheon battle. Criticize constructively and be nice, it really is just a game. If you're not having fun, then what's the point? Removing a member is as easy as pressing a button so there's no use in spreading around negativity when you have plenty of Vex trying to destroy you. I guarantee you that the happier your team is, the more willing they are to continue overcoming a challenge with you. --------------------------- ...and with that in mind, I am now more willing to fight by your side. If this works out, then I may call upon your aid for a weekly nightfall or some daily heroics. You'll get more specific instructions inside. See you in the Vault, Guardian. PSN - Cepperz
