possible improvement to open world events

i originally posted this in the main forum, but nor realize this is where it should be. so here it is, with a few refinements: Personally, I like the loot changes in the last patch. Including extending the spawn time for various caves. Only 1 problem though. The areas that have been nerfed, are also areas where the coolest wars happen. I'd rather see the spawn time changed back, but drop their (for the trigger mob) engram percentage. When a war starts, they are as pointless as the strikes used to be. And still are. You get practically nothing for them. These are by far and away the best public events in the game. Why there isn't bounties for these I'll never know. And why each side doesn't have their own general I don't know either. But those wars can be made sooooooo much cooler than they already are.... for example: have it triggered like it currently is (and im assuming that its based on how many you kill and not time, never really thought about it until now TBH). but when it starts... - initial waves from both sides come out. when 1 side looses its wave, or close too, send in the re-enforcements. and if 1 side has more than the other, send out some for the other side to balance it out. so this for 2 waves. - wave 3 is the first minor boss wave. when the boss is killed, trigger the next wave. and as above, if hte sides are unbalanced, send out more regular re-enforcements to balance out the sides. - wave 4 might have 2 minor bosses in it plus regulars. same deal as wave 3 above. - wave 5 is a major boss and 2 minor bosses plus regulars. same deal as wave 3 & 4 - wave 6 is the general wave. this wave has the general, 2 major bosses and 4 minor bosses plus regulars. when 1 general pawns, the other spawns. and as before, if the sides are unbalanced, pawn more to even it out. no more waves or adds spawn. balance hte generals so that only 1 can be killed (maybe) if fire was concentrated on it. balance the general for like 6 - 8 players. make each wave spawn like 24 mobs in total. or what ever balanced number works for the bandwidth. and the event timed, so it can't be deliberately kept going for farming. also, if you wanted to make it particularly bastardy, since people like to sit by a spawn and stop waves from exiting the rooms, if this happens for 2 waves, triple the number that spawn (or make them enter in from other avenues, like ships), and carry on as above in terms of balanced numbers on both sides (just to make it extra chaotic). drop wise from wave bosses: - wave 1 & 2 = nothing (no wave bosses) - minor boss = blue - major boss = blue/purple (like an 90/10 split or something) - general = 2-3x ascendant material/purple/exotic (and make these items specific to these guys only. make it like a 50/50 [with a 0.5% chance if legendary to get an exotic] split). atm, there's no reason to force these to occur, despite them being really awesome and entertaining, and in part, rather chaotic. so this would be entertaining. you can farm the strikes, or you can spend some time and be involved in an awesomely chaotic conflict. fact is, some people like to farm. and this gives them an outlet to do that. reduce (or remove) the drop from the trigger mobs, and put their re-spawn timers back to how it was. more people will do public events, and more people would actually hang around for these events.

  • As an on topic non rage filled post, I would say this is a good idea I don't like less enemies much myself. However I can tell you as someone who has done basic python and who has a friend going into level design that making enemies spawn less frequently is easier than making drops less common for the fact that drop chances are likely universal for all planets/enemies whereas time to spawn is unique to areas. Easier to edit local variables than global variables trust me, so just don't expect that to change any time soon, and if that means they spend the time they could take changing loot systems on actual additions and [b][i]FREE[/i][/b] story addons then I would prefer that. Just my two cents.
