Destiny: A Foundation for Greatness

Destiny, like the PlayStation 4 was the first thing I ever pre-ordered. I was glad I did because it whisked me away on an adventure that I have enjoyed despite some of the misgivings. At level 27 though I feel that it is becoming tedious at times. As such I do have a few suggestions. I plan to split this article up in to sub-categories for easier browsing. Although the main focus of this is to outline what needs to be improved I will also try to state what I liked about each category. Tower I risked my life and my ghost's life pushing back the darkness. I arrive at the tower looking over the city. I want to tell them that they no longer have to hide. We had won a victory. My futile attempts to access the city by jumping over the rails were all for naught. I appreciate the opening of the tower. I remember seeing the door behind the bounty and wishing I could go there. I Imagined a beauty to behold. With the queens wrath allowing us in it did not dissappoint. However now I find myself looking towards the city. What does the last safe city look like upclose? I would like to visit it sometime. I know it would be an undertaking that will most likely require an expansion. "Hello is anyone there?" is a question I find myslef asking occasionlly. I wish the npc weren't just vendors but people you can talk to so the tower didn't feel so empty. The only one to ellicit any emotion from me was the cryptarch. That emotion was anger when all my legendary engrams became rare items. I read the patch note, in there you made it feel like you had to convince him to change his ways. You didn't just tell us you fixed it and the effort was appreciated. The empty feeling continues with the commincation between guardians being almost non-existant. I thought of creating a sign language based around the four gestures. I did read that you guys are trying to work on chat worring about griefing. Keep up the good work and I look forward to it. Balls anyone? I know this was probably talked about in every destiny post. I'm really glad you guys added them. When I think of fun at the tower they are what I think of. Me and my friend even got the purple one on the fan to float it. Mini games like these make it almost fun to go to the tower for anything other than business. Trade First I absolutly agree with your trading decision when it comes to gear. It worked I enjoy every hard fought loot drop that I get. I dont want that part to change. With that being said that joy quickly turns to boredom and fustration grinding for upgrade materials. I propse to open up trade for upgrade materials; Spinmetel, Helium Filimants, Spirit Bloom, and Relic Iron. I feel this will still keep the epic story for getting your gear while almost elimaniting a huge grind. With the rarity of ascendant shards the gear will still take some time to upgrade, so that wont be affected too much. If there is still a huge risk in this kind of trading that I'm not forseeing, I have a differnt possible solution. As of right now we can take 50 of a material and trade for crucible or vanguard rank. What if we can trade it to a vender for different materials. For example I have Spirit Bloom I dont need for upgrading right now so I take it to a vender and he gives me the Spinmetal I need in exchange for it. This can be a one to one ratio, a fee for trading, or depending on the material a diffent exchange rate. The player would have to decide, does he want to keep that helium fillimant for his exotic weapon or trade it in for Spinmetal for his exotic helm. This wont eliminate the grind fully, but if you picked up everything you see on missions it can at least reduce the grind. Grimoire Cards When an author writes a novel he creates a world and character personalities in a very complex way to breath life in to them. The reader wont even see half of that. The grimoire cards, feel to me like the author's notes that we get to see and enjoy. However when logging on after accumalinting over 1000 cards you slam in to a wall of text. This makes me try to read card after card just to reduce the sheer amount of new cards I have to read. This makes it feel like work and I almost immediatly forget what I read as I move on to the next cards. Yet I still read them wanting so badly to immerse myself in this world. I personally would like to be gradually eased in to the different races culture and experience them in game. It would be more immersive, but alot of work went in to these grimoire cards and it would be a shame to waste them. I feel the problem is the inablity to read them in game. "Why do I want to read them in game I'm too busy shooting this horde of vex?" It's true there is little downtime to read these ingame when your in a fire fight, so I thought of where the biggist downtime is. That is the loadscreen. Depending on the length of the grimoire card I am able to read one, somtimes two grimoire cards before the next screen loads. So I would like the option to have the unread grimoire cards come up on the loading screens. After you finished reading a card hit square (ps4) to signify that you finished reading. The card then goes in to your read pile. If you didn't finish reading you can pick up where you left off on the next loading screen. Cut scenes Although few in number I really enjoyed seeing my character in them. I loved the voice acting, and how good it looked in general. The cut scene I enjoyed most was at the reef because it gave me information in to the way the Awoken live out there. I wish there was more cut scenes like that. The problem I have with them is one I found out while taking on vanguard bounties. I happened to keep getting the one where I kill Riksis on earth, I believe it is the second mission. Upon completion you are treated with a cut scene that gets repetitive without the ability to skip it. Some days I just want to get to that tower and turn in my bounty, my fire team just got on and is waiting for me. Races Awoken, Exo, and Human who are they? What is there culture like right now? Where did those Exo's come from? I do love the look of the Awoken and Exo. In fact all my characters are Awoken. I just wish to know more about them. I'm sure it is explained in the grimoire cards, but leaving the game to read a wall of text doesn't immerse me in to their world. I hope for missions to the reef to interact more with the awoken. I want to know if the Exo's have a home planet, or if humans created a sentient robot that became a race of it's own. I want the game to show me its universe. While we are on exo's. Who is that exo we meet on venus without a ghost? We meet her again at the end and she still didn't explain who she is. If this is a setup for the expansions you did a great job. I would love to learn more about her, and I'm hoping it isn't just a loose end of the story. Story Vague, brief, yet still somehow addicting. The story did a good job in keeping me interested at least the few snippets we got. However none of the cutscenes (reef cutscenes excluded) really make us feel apart of the world or give us much more of the story. What are the stories the exo said he could tell us after the second mission? I would liked to have heard it. It would have given me a sense of history. Where did the traveler come from? Is he going to be alive now that we killed that dark heart on the final mission? What changed the awoken?

 • Music The sound track in this game is amazing and I wouldn't want to miss it. Unfortunately with the shooting of my gun and the music I can barely hear my team. I would like seperate audio for Music, Sound effects, and chat. This way when I'm playing solo I can up my Music and gunfire. Then when my team comes on I can lower those to better coordinate with them.
