Why do I suck so bad at Destiny PVP?

Alright prokillers, here's your chance to school somebody who will actually appreciate it. Quick backstory; Last time I played an FPS in PVP was when Marathon was hot property, so some of my problems may just be because I'm really rusty. Anyway, what's the deal with PVP in Destiny? I feel like I'm just doing it all wrong...every time I blink somebody gets me with a one-shot kill and it doesn't seem to matter much what weapon they're using, or what I'm trying to do to stay alive. None of my weapons feel anywhere near as powerful as what the other team is using. Honestly I really want to like the Destiny PvP experience, because I've got a sentimental attachment to Bungie and this game is lots of fun for me in PvE. So help me out. How do I get the most out of this game? I've got military experience (which basically boils down to having a great deal of training in following instructions) and lots of time to kill once the game ships (retired), so if you folks can boil this particular PvP system down to some basic tactical and strategic elements I'll be able to pick up on it and have fun with it, but right now I'm feeling pretty worn down after having the brakes beat off me repeatedly in the beta. Thanks in advance for your thoughts (and for the inevitable insults from the kids table). p.s. Don't think I'm blaming the game...obviously people are winning at PvP, so the system works...I just down understand how it works yet, so I'm not one of them.

 • Im working right now and taking a break on the toilet so I don't have much time. But destiny is more like halo than any other game, I've always had a good k/d ration on PvP modes in most shooter games. Here is the just of what to do. Think outside the box, this isn't cod or any modern shooter where 3 well placed shots kill ur enemy, so the element of surprise is always the best. Number two, you can't get super fast kills easily, so taking down two opponents who both have eyes on u is highly unlikly if u see 2 enemies heading ur way or an abundance of red markers on ur radar, run the other way and either flank them or set them up around a corner to be ambushed by a shot gun. When ur shields are knocked down and health is exposed RUN!!!! Ur sheilds recharge pretty quickly if u stay unharmed for about 5 seconds, once ur shield had recovered u should be in a great position to surprise the enemy chasing u. NEVER CHASE SOMEONE YOU HAVE ALMOST KILLED, trust me the one kill isn't worth dying for, if they run they are doing right and hoping to leas u into ur own death and another point for them. Another thing when an enemy is closing in on u and u suspect the are coming around a corner and know where u are jump as high as possible, they will be searching ground level as u get an advantage of seeing them and probably will land out of their vision. Theae are a couple steps that should help. Watch good players on YouTube and pay attention to the habits they have. Most likely if you follow in their footsteps u will eventually get a natural technique of your own.
