We all know what happened with Suros. If bounties can be purchased and they are hard enough, fewer people will have the goods. I don't see how anyone except the noobs could hate this :)

That, or they can raise the price for exotics to say 30 coins for a main weapon

This is the first post I've seen that actually posts a plausibly good idea rather than OMG IT'S AN EXOTIC I CAN'T AFFORD / WONT BUY CAUSE I'M TOO PRO / MISSED OUT ON. I wouldn't mind doing bounties for some of the guns. Hell, even if they were Thorn level difficulty, as long as you have a few good friends to go at it, it'd be fun. With that kind of thing we could probably even have the materials - to -strange - coins exchange back.

It irks me when everyone cries about "Well what about us casuals! We'll never get anything!" That's the way it's supposed to be, you bought a game marketed as an MMO now whether or not it actually is matters not. The more time you put in the better you become. 100 marks cap - For casuals 1 weekly raid - For casuals Xur - For casuals Everything feels less unique with Xur in the game, it's too easy to gear up, casuals and hardcore players end up at pretty much the same point. I've done the raid 5 times and only received one piece of gear (29/4ever), I have no problem with this as RNG gon RNG (Right?), what I have a problem with is that I can't do it more than once because Bungie is catering to people less devoted to the game. It bothers me that someone who plays once a week could be my level and have done the content as much as I have in 180 hours of gameplay. Xur should be removed entirely or at least the certainty, caps should be removed and so should lockouts.

I completely agree with you, it would be a lot more rewarding and fun. I'm sure that others earned what they got from Xûr, just that if you compare it to an exotic bounty it's extremely unfair. You go through the hard work in an exotic bounty to get one item however if you grind coins, you have an endless variety if you're patient. I mean if Xûr sells a crap thing this week, you can just wait for next week and BOOM Suros Regime's on the market... I wonder what would happen if strange coins would only last the week they were gotten in.
-
I completely agree with this. Exotics dont feel like exotics if you dont have to work for it. Like, theres no feeling of accomplishment just buying it, but going through this epic line of bounties and finally a buffed version of an already hard mission? Thats what gives you a great feeling of, "I earned this."
-
100 % agree +1 so its make much more since
-
Just got an exotic engram from him an it turned into a titan class helmet. .... WTF?
-
No. Just no. I'm not gonna buy a bounty that forces me into PVP. Fvck PVP. No.
-
I'm on board
-
Who in the hell would spend strange coins for a bounty? Who would buy a bounty in general? It doesn't matter what you do, exotics in pvp is inevitable. I give it till December until everyone has some form of exotic weapon in pvp.
-
This is a pretty cool idea. Plus people cry about bounties dealing with crucible. Might make guns uncommon
-
I actually like this idea as long as those bounties do not include the raid only exotics. Good idea though man.
-
I support that idea!
-
yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes

I disagree. For those with real life commitments xur is an important way of getting exotic items by saving up coins for a couple weeks. Not everyone has the time to do the weekly mission with 3 characters to get 27 coins per week. Xur is also important for those who just get screwed over by unlucky RNG. I and many others have never received an exotic bounty despite doing many bounties each day, playing daily and weekly missions, pvp and pve, etc etc. the fact that i know at least xur might have an exotic that I like for sale on the weekend pushes back the dark clouds of unlucky RNG.
-
How about the bounties are slightly cheaper than the actual item so if you don't have enough fir the item you can work for it.
-
That's.. actually a damn good idea! Have a virtual cookie.
-
Then strange coins are useless
-
That means you need to give suros back.
-
How about leave it like it is. If we could just buy them, then getting my second exotic bounty the other day would feel meaningless. The game is fair now. Except when someone gets the Truth exotic rocket launcher when they literally do nothing the whole game. Zeros all across the scoreboard.

Agreed

I would support this idea, but, it would just end up closing off those of us who play destiny without a Live/PSN subscription on the PS4 / Xbox360(Or Xbox-one) from being able to access a good 90% of the Exotics without some major luck from the RNG gods. The only current exotic bounty that can be done without fighting in the Crucible or doing Strikes is the one for Super Good Advice. And henceforth it's the only Exotic weapon (without Xur or RNG's help) that those of us who don't want to pay an online subscription fee can obtain. TL;DR: If Bungie were to change Xur to selling Exotic bounties, you can bet that a good 80-90% of them would require a Strike or Crucible activity in order to complete. Making those of us who don't play on the PS3 & don't want to pay for Xbox Live/PS+ would be at an extreme disadvantage, as the only way for us to obtain Exotics would be through Drops. (FYI: I managed to get both Thorn & Invective, on the same day, during the PSN free online weekend. Otherwise I wouldn't have either of those weapons)

WoW Xur should sell you a girlfriend so you can get off his DIC* and stop crying!
-
I don't see how people figure they "earned" something that is completely a random drop. The only way people can say they earned anything is through engrams and having to complete their tasks. However, some people who play this game only play PvE so having to get a certain K/D in crucible is useless to them. How they enjoy only playing PvE in all of its repetition is beyond me. Some of you all have a skewed vision on this Xur thing. You all complain about him selling weapons and armor for what? So only YOU can have them? Lol. Xur is the equalizer for those who aren't lucky enough to find random Engrams or drops. Hell, there are people on this game that still haven't received an exotic bounty yet. It's easy to say being able to buy them is unfair because you already have them. Most of mine are from engrams but I did buy Suros Regime. With the randomness of drops and exotic bounties you can't argue you earned them, I'm not buying that. You did have to work to finish the bounty, sure, but the earning of the bounty was random.
