With 404Architect's exposure on the development process, I feel like chiming theories in.

With most of the content cut, locations like Old CHicago, The Reef, Europa, Saturn's Rings, characters like Crow, the story itself which has no story, I feel that with the information 404 provided about Destiny I can put these theories here. They say that the factions was going to play an important part in the story. (And I think both the enemies and the tower factions) and with the Traveler being the big bad daddy of The Darkness, I think that the enemies you fight may not be entirely bad (except for two) at all. The Fallen; a fractured galactic civilization forced to live the life of piracy. What do I think? The Fallen are a galactic civilization that survived their near destruction, hated The Traveler for fracturing their entire civilizations and destroying their old home, wander in the shadows of their old roots of royalty houses. And they will prey on anyone who worships the damned thing. The Cabal; a powerful, industrialized militaristic empire, the only civilization who defied The Darkness/Traveler and survived. They become powerful, brutal, raw, forged an armada all on their own, destroying worlds that they believe are tainted by The Traveler. The Hive; a civilization who also defied the Traveler. Unlike the other factions, these guys were struck down HARD for it, and turned into mindless, zombified drones tasked to do The Darkness's business. These guys are a collection of Galactic Civilizations who gave The Traveler more grief that they outright punish them severely for it. Then there is The Vex; hyper advanced time travelling machines built by the Traveler sent back in time to stop the humans from learning the truth about The Traveler. Their sole purpose is to destroy all that remains of humanity. Of course they aren't doing so well. (Another theory I have on this is Rasputin, the one AI that faced the Darkness and lived, made a system or network that prevented the Hive and the Vex from attacking the City directly somehow.) We also heard word in the past that these factions may team up. (which never happened) With these theories, it would make sense if the Vex and Hive teamed up. It would explain the Hive's presence on the moon. In fact, it would also explain their presence on Earth too and their connection with The Darkness. As for the Cabal and Fallen? Well I'll let you fill that out yourself because its -blam!-ing obvious why they would team up.
