About the bladedancer argument

So this conversation about whether or not the bladedancer needs to be nerfed has been going on for a while. Personally I'm sick of it not because I agree with one side and I don't want to hear the other but because people are just ranting with no evidence to back up their rants. I'm sure bungie keeps stats everything, including how many kills, on average, each super gets and other stuff that would be relevant to this conversation. They would know if one of the classes was vastly superior to the others and would fix it or at the very least mention it in the list of things they intend to fix. They do this for everything else in the game and have mentioned changes that were made to the supers before, I think they made those changes launch day. All of these conversations I've read have been people either saying it's over powered or saying that it's fine as is but no one is providing any evidence other than "in my experience". Until someone or a group of people get together a lot of actual data from lots of different sources neither side of this argument is going to have any real weight behind it and personal experience doesn't count as data. By data I mean match records with kills, deaths, K/D ratios, classes, and how many of those kills were with a super. Does anyone else agree with me or am I alone in wanting to know the actual answer? Edit: to clarify I am not looking for an explanation of why the bladedancer needs to be nerfed or why it should stay the same. I am looking for evidence to back up those explanations.

  • the titan seems the most OP with the bubble. they have major damage reduction, their shields instantly recharge by stepping one foot in the bubble, and the only way to really kill them is doing high damage like a rocket or another super and even then, you have to enter the bubble where they are waiting with a shotgun. it lasts for like a whole minute and is really OP. the blade dancer just really needs a bit of a speed deduction like they can only teleport every few seconds then its completely fine. titans with the camper bubble has annoyed me more than any other special. titans already have some of the most devastating grenades and a cheap insta-kill melee where they charge in to you, why hate all on the hunters? Titans need the nerf more than anybody else also I'm not a hunter, I'm a warlock and all of the titans annoy me more than any hunter ever has

    • The problem is, as with many mmo-ish type games that won't separate pvp skills from pve skills, is that if you nerf the bladder dancer in pvp, the pve side will suffer even more.

      • Crazy me, I like to let game-developers balance their games based on the massive amount of data they collect on their servers. So no, you're not alone - there are reasonable people on this board. We're just mostly drowned out by the wave of complaints and OP/NERF requests.

There are many threads with coherent arguments to nerf hunters. You just choose to not read or accept these arguments. For proof use your brain or go to the leader boards and count the number of hunters in the top 100, 1000, or 10000 ranks. Making a post stating nothing as proof nothing is wrong makes you a moron. And here is some help... No, only the good players do not pick hunters. And... No, the leader boards are not that way because more hunters play pvp because many different classes are in pvp. My advice is to use your brain.

        • Now, put yourself in my position, where the score is 9700 on both teams, and then, a god damn bladedancer runs in and wins the match. How would that make you feel? Being the one holding the team up, getting 25+ kills and then have a bladedancer ruin everything?

http://youtu.be/ypqwi8NNHGA Not scientific but check 3:14 That shows a few clips in a row where blade dancer annihilates me despite all odds. Another few clips in there where I unleash a lot of bullets and melee hits but it tickles him. 4:30 I actually kill one

Go to destinytracker.com and look up leaderboards for combat rating and k/d. You will find that around 70% of the top 300 (I stopped counting after that) are hunters. Hunters are popular but not by 70%.

              • I know I did a titans shoulder tackle on one. It took half the shield, and then he auto aimed me down. While looking the other way. I personally don't bitch about it, because they can be taken out with another super or heavy weapons. Its a freaken electrically charged knife, of course its going to mess you up if they get close. I don't think that the main reason people complain is because of its power, I think its because it has an auto function to it. If the person is in a 45 degree arc in front of the hunter, they're as good as dead. Its like using the sword of crota or the relic in VOG. What they fail to remember, is generally, if you're killed by any super, once you respawn, you don't have to worry about that person using their super on you for a couple of minutes. Just wait till its done, and then get revenge. If a hunter is dumb enough to engage me and then use arc blade in the middle of the fights, I just jump up and shoot their heads. Every super can be countered if you remember that they have a wind up or a tell tale sign. Running into them after rounding a corner sucks, but, that's just bad luck.

                • I wish I took a screenshot but, my hawkmoon does 98 dmg per headshot, once he popped dance it went down to 47 dmg per headshot. Now that's only head shots I'm not sure bout body shots but I'd imagine it took is halfed, meaning 2 shotgun blasts at close range where they can easily tank through it. See ppl want it nerfed so they can only do 3 kills or they want them to move slower but the real issue is only the armor. If any other subclass pops a super including defenders armor of light and Sunsingers radiant skin they still die relatively easy (unless your in the titans bubble then you just made a bad decision). So thing is, if they keep their speed, their one shot melee and only remove the shield, then we start to see hunters play smarter with dance
