Although I do believe building an atmosphere where all members know each other is important in a clan, I also think its nice to have a place where you could go and almost instantly find someone new that is wanting to complete the same raid/strike/bounty/etc. Yes, not everybody would know each other, everybody would not be on each others friends list but atleast everybody would have a a source to go to if they ever need someone or a group. It doesn't take long for you to become friends on Destiny or for any other game that requires this much teamwork and communication.
