I traded this game back to gamestop for $43.50. Basically cut my losses, i dont feel too bad that this was $17 rental for me, i had some fun seeing what it was about but it's just not something im going to spend a lot more time with when Mordor, NBA2k15 and Assassins creed unity come out in the next month and half. this game was not compelling enough to earn more playtime over those newer games. I wasnt planning to buy the DLC (at least not after what ive seen with this game) and not having it likely makes the game far less playable (can only play with people who have the same version).
Not that i expect anyone to care about my decision, but i thought id post something here since i did try to get into this game and feel the pain of everyone who has poured their hard earned time and money into it hoping for something else. i did spend a decent enough amount of time with this game (60 hours, level 26 hunter) to feel like i have a realistic perception what it is. I wanted to like this game,. The whole combination of Mass Effect (my favorite series ever), Halo, and WOW is definitely appealing. Shooting the aliens was fun at first but it just got old without a real grasp for what they were. Destiny doesnt give me any reason to stay invested in the world. I dont know anything about the enemies other than they are trying to kill me and nothing is really explained. Grinding was starting to get old as there is only so many times i can reply the strikes, story missions, pvp, recycled boutnies, running around the last city, etc before getting bored with it (same areas just rehashed with twist). The game felt like it had a lot of potential if only some of the major game breaker issues were fixed. I was also offended that this game was released in this condition and with the (seeming) strategy to cut out half the game and make the customer pay for the rest through DLCs. I understand that is what some companies are doing nowadays and shame on me for thinking it would be any different here. Thankfully i dont have to go along with it now.
I wish you all the best with Destiny. Hopefully Bungie does start pumping out a lot more user requested fixes and new worlds to explore. i hope they really fill in a lot of the holes in the story with the DLCs and the final verson of the game in 6 months is actually a more intriguing one. I've went on long enough. I am leaving now. Goodbye.

-
I guess you didn't enjoy being a beta tester... The game doesn't start until lvl 4... The game doesn't start until lvl 20... The game doesn't start until lvl 26... The game doesn't start until lvl XX...

Yeah, I have stopped playing until the first expansion comes out in December. It's just too repetitive and unfulfilling.
-
Yeah I don't think the DLC can fill the void they left. Maybe when Destiny 2 comes out and they learn from their mistakes. All they're going to give us is a couple new raids and some missions to play, as well as MP maps. They would have to start back at the drawing board to fix the problems I have with this game.

Understandable, then again when you rush to the top eventually you fall. The game had been out for 3 weeks? I can see the potential, and I feel bungi is just holding out a bit. I can't imagine if they released everything at once. You would see those stories "man stays up all day and night for 15 days and dies" or "a couple forgot about their kids for 5 days" I think waiting is a good idea. Could there be changes? Yes. Could the changes then affect the game now and deture the players who enjoy playing now? Yes. There is no way to make everyone happy. Butterflies

Good for you bro. Destiny sounds like a bitch i used to date back in highschool named Destiny. I turned her in for 43.50 as well.
-
I'm sure your mother cried when you left home but we really couldn't give a shit. Pack up move out and stop wasting our time with this crap you pretentious f-u-c-k

Doubt it'll be better in 6 months, DLC just = more strikes raids etc. Same formula for each boss just doing it over n over again, adding more missions to do it over n over, just boring repetative stuff Remember Activision/Bungie arn't realy companys out to impress, they'll make enough money of whatever shit they churn out and not give a flying -blam!- Be a proper gamer and look out for companys that actualy wanto impress you with there game, it's make or break for them. Lucky u got your money back for the game, i just threw mine in the bin

so long and thanks for all the fish
-
Fair enough points many people feel the same to be honest its feels like the gutted out the soul of the game for there quest to make money i think it will back fire on them.
-
Baby come back You can blame it all-- on Bun-Gieee
-
If you come back you lose.
-
I can see why. Personally I'm going to wait to see what the next few months can bring us. If the first "expansion" is just one new raid and like 3 missions I'll probably be gone too. Not out of hate for the game, but just, lack of things to do.

I keep hearing the Hunter Vanguard Master in my head whispering "take me with you."

Edited by Nemesis Black: 9/30/2014 11:01:04 AMFarewell, mate. Your post echoed the feelings of a lot us and highlights reoccurring issues that need addressing for many players.

well, I came into this topic expecting another whine post, but it was actually pretty sensible. best of luck OP

Sounds like you don't play with friends, so it makes sense that this game wouldn't be for you. You list all single player games as what you're going to be playing, so have fun by yourself. The content may be repetitive in Destiny, but playing with friends, the loot system, and progression of your character are what makes this game fun. I would have turned it in after a week if it weren't for playing with friends, and now I've caught the loot bug and can't stop thinking about that next piece. I am actually fine with the "broken" legendary engram stuff, since it makes engrams almost like gambling. It is much more exciting to bend over at the cryptarch and unexpectedly get a legendary from a legendary, or even an exotic from a legendary. People ridiculously expect to get full legendary and exotic sets less than a month after the game was released. The rarity of items gives some variety to the game so you don't end up with everyone wielding the same weapon/armor combo after 6 months because it is "the best". There will certainly be no Destiny 2 for me if they don't address the issues of this game, however. I'm a stickler for good (at least existent) stories with some semblance of character progression and plot.
