Good morning/afternoon/evening Guardians, I have spent a lot of time reading posts in this forum today, and the only thing that is very clear to me is that many people are very angry and that many people are very angry at many people for being very angry. The name-calling and directionless hatred and frustration don't seem to be accomplishing a lot, but I see a lot of very valid ideas and complaints buried in the rubble. That is why I have made this thread. I think that we have some good ideas in this community for how to improve the game, and instead of having Bungie dig through 647 layers of teenage angst and fanboy hate, we can create a compendium of desired changes here that I will manually update as every new idea comes up. I will try to read every direct reply to this thread. I may ask for clarification of ideas, but every time I run across a new thought that would be beneficial, I will include it. If you have been a part of other threads with great ideas, please redirect those users here so that they can share with the giant list. I am treating this as a Green Hatting session, so show no fear when bringing up any idea that you feel would be great for the Destiny universe. TLDR; Feed ideas to the idea list I will start us off with an idea, and you guys and gals fire away: Hey everybody, thank you so much for all of your brilliant ideas and discussion. Above and below I have included a link to the list, and I will be updating intermittently as I get to read your comments and understand your ideas THE BIG LIST OF CHANGES THE COMMUNITY WOULD LIKE TO SEE Edit: Adding things to the list. Added a TLDR for people who hate words. Updated to number based listing, not in any particular order, just to keep count. You have all been absolutely amazing. I will be closing this thread to new suggestions at 12:00pm Eastern Standard Time today, 10/2/14. I will then organize the data, divide it into categories, and start a series of threads with similar titles to start a vote. I greatly appreciate all of your time and contributions! Thank you Awesome job everyone! The deadline has been reached and we have two hundred forty-two suggestions. I need a little bit of time to organize this data. I am going to summarize the ideas and why they would be beneficial in a small paragraph under each. I may condense multiple ideas into a single idea, and while I am going to keep the original document with all of your names on it, I am going to remove all of the names from the extrapolation and voting documents. This is not to be mean, and this is not to steal anyone's ideas. This is a document made by the community for the community's benefit, and while the names should be recorded in the interest of keeping history, the true goal here is to improve the game universe. Again, the original document will maintain all names and ideas, but I will be removing those names and possibly condensing ideas for the sake of the voting that will occur as soon as I can manage it. Thank you all so much for all of your contributions, time, and support, and I hope you are looking forward to this as much as I am. Voting has begun guardians. I expect you to lend your light to the ideas you care about most. http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/71761588

  • Bumpety bump bump bumpingtons These may just go half-way to making the game we all want!! Also, how about when in Patrol mode you can re-visit Strike zones that are closed off, like the Circle of Bones on Moon, where you fight Phogoth, and fight a boss linked to the Strike boss, like for example, instead of finding Phogoth there, you find the "Spawn of Phogoth" a smaller, younger form, who is more aggressive and requires a larger fireteam to beat?

I've started a few threads about different ideas. I'll throw a short summary on each one. 1. Melee weapons to sub for specials or even primaries or secondaries. No ammo, just hack n slash glory like the Sword of Crota. Tons of potential with "Your class here" melee weapon bounty... 2. Maps involving the traveler, directly. I want to fly around that thing Independence Day style. Ship combat for sure. 2a. Urban combat in the city underneath the traveler. Want to see it looming overhead. 2b. Combat INSIDE the traveler. Why not? 3. Xur Strike: allow a strike to gain mid-week access to Xur. Level 24ish. End of mission puts you in the black market. Think Star Wars cantina... You stay until you're done socializing then when you're done you can't re-enter without doing the strike. Or do it once and gain weekly access. Tons of ways to address this and make Xur more interesting. 4. Faction specific rep for patrols. Current patrols are voiced by specific faction members "Dead Orbit demands..." Rep for those factions should be gained for patrols without the class item (purchasable only at level 20). By the time I hit 20-24 I should be invited to join a faction based on my reputation with them. 5. Factions give their own specific bounties, not some boring robot at a chalkboard. Everyone starts no rep guardian then chooses a "path." 6. Social zones for each faction separate from the tower after level 24ish for faction members to group. This gives the crucible substance. You're fighting each other in faction battles for prestige and "training." Lots of potential here. 7. Emotes with specific pre-scripted chat bubbles (like a comic book chat bubble) with "Looking for Level XY Raid party", "Looking for Bubble Titan", or whatever. Could be built like Dark Souls messages. Easy and affective. Message floats over your head until disabled. 8. Space "Patrols." Could be PvP or just PvE killing enemy ships for glimmer, rep, and resources. Faction specific painted unique ships! This could very well be almost it's own game so I'm not holding my breath. 9. Full exotics allowed. Let us look unique. Everyone at level 20+ looks almost exactly the same except coloring. More cosmetic variation. That's about it I think. I do enjoy the game. My own imagination is running wild with the possibilities. Fingers crossed.

    • If I repeat someone else's idea then so be it, but I have a lot to get off my chest here. 1) Implement side stories for the factions in the tower. As of now there's zero difference between these groups and honestly, there's so little known about them that their very existence is questionable. You should be able to go to one of the factions and either A) be able to receive UNIQUE bounties for UNIQUE rewards. and that bounty is ONLY available by going to that specific faction and having done 1-2 levels already to access them. or B) have the bounties actually send people off to complete what amounts to story missions specific to that faction. Ideally, these factions should have some pretty in depth stories but I won't hold my breath on that one at all. 2) Factions at the Tower need to offer more to players. What's the difference between a level 6 and a level 20 at these factions? nothing is the answer. If I'm working for new monarchy, shouldn't that offer something really different than if I were working for Dead Orbit? Shaders, faction specific emotes, emblems, unique armor types, unique weapon types, unique weapon and armor bonuses (IE: perhaps Dead Orbit allows a function on their weapons where by when unlocked, a a body shot on an enemy has a chance to deal crit damage as though it were a head shot. This function wouldn't be available on any other factions weapon as it's SPECIFIC to Dead Orbit.) ::SUPPLEMENTAL:: Factions need to have more specified means to rank them up. This will be addressed in my next point. 3) The means of ranking up factions is entirely too uniform. This is more expanded than previous points. There is no difference between Vanguard, New Monarchy, Dead Orbit, Future War Cult. You collect a bounty, you go out and complete it and provided you have that factions garb on, you will gain some points. This will work with anything experience wise that you collect. This is utterly dull. Changing a hip cloth does not mean anything. There's zero impact. What there needs to be is a system where each faction is leveled independently. And I have some ideas on this. First, To begin earning bounties for a faction you must be rank 1. So you grind 1 level just as people have to now. Once this is complete, players now have the ability to buy basic shaders and emblems AS WELL AS specific bounties from that faction. With each level (or perhaps every other level) players will receive a present in the mail like they do already however, players will receive further incentives as each level they have access to better and better gear. SECOND, this system needs to play in such a way that there are consequences to players for choosing one faction over another. If I'm working Dead Orbit, then perhaps New Monarchy is their rival. Perhaps... while trying to complete a mission for Dead Orbit, New Monarchy tries to sabotage it by sending some guardians against you (NPC New Monarchy Guardians). It allows players to grow themselves where they'd like to. 3) There needs to be NPC's in this world to interact with. The tower is all together the most boring place a person could possibly be aside from floating around in orbit. Why there aren't vendors on the planets (even randomly through the week) is beyond me. Vendors should appear from time to time offering items or challenges (they could end up being another faction). What should have been in the game in the first place was additional towns to go to. Even if it's just a small outpost of 5 or 6 people... it's something. You go there, and they have their own back story and perhaps have a half dozen missions for you (collecting stuff from other planets, talking to other people on other planets, delivering something, killing something, ....) What would be perfect with this is that you can then go back to these groups where you can trade in junky stuff for perhaps better rewards. For example... I have WAY too many Plasteel plating. I have nothing to do with them as I can't trade them in anywhere. Why can't I go to one of these NPC's and be able to trade them for perhaps an engram or a weapon, or whatever? 4) Interplanetary Travel. Players should have the option for fast travel to the planet, however, we have these sweet ships that we do absolutely nothing with. Uh, here's a thought, allow players to fly them from planet to planet. In between the planets, there are floating abandoned stations, enemy vessels, asteroids, etc. This would really break up some of the monotony this game has. :SUPPLEMENTAL:: Allow customization of your ships and upgrade options for speed, shield, hull integrity, weapons, color. : FURTHER SUPPLEMENTAL:: This new area would allow for even more story/mission options as well as allow players to encounter "lost" stations where there are other NPC's to encounter. 5) Patrol Missions are Lazy There is simply no reason for Patrol Missions in their current state. These are lazy and and dull. There needs to be variety, REAL variety. There seems to be at this point 2 types of mission. Collection and Hit kills. Here are some ideas for Patrol Missions. SURVIVAL: Players realize it's a trap and must survive waves of enemies. TIMED: Players are tasked with traveling from point A to point B (and perhaps point C) to complete tasks at each point within an allotted time limit. HIGH VALUE TARGET: Like the current kill idea, but this is more of an assassination type deal. there is a tough enemy who is being escorted by his own little squad of enemies, players must wipe the target. KING OF THE HILL: Players must maintain their presence within some circle for a certain amount of time while defending it from incoming enemies. LIMITATION: Players must complete some task without the use of one of their abilities, weapons, or armor. IE, it disables something from the player making it more difficult or longer of a mission. ESCORT: The player must escort an NPC Guardian from one point to another while enemies try to strike. (could be varied where players might deal with a few heavy enemies, more numbers of light enemies, or sniping enemies or any combination) These are just some ideas. But what also needs to happen is a varied reward system for these. Not every mission should be 10 points (or 12 with the weekly nightfall boost). Some are higher, some are lower, but having that variety in difficulty, reward, and category means patrol missions are actually worth some real fun. 6) Armor customization. Really, just give us a color wheel. This goes for our speeder bikes too. Allow players to customize their own color schemes. 7) Armor stat mobility There's no ability for players to really customize their armor based on appearance other than shaders at this point. If there's a style players like, they are unfortunately forced to change it for an armor which has better stats. Players should have the ability to take the stats from one set of armor and put it on a different set of armor. This way the stats are such that you've gotten your upgrade but you keep the style you liked from before. 8) Too few weapon/armor options. Really what it comes down to is that there's too few options for ascetics. 9) Allow player communication through text at the tower. 10) Classes need more variation I know there's sub classes and special abilities each class gets but the classes should really have some more specific attributes. What comes to mind is that Hunters should have some serious long range firepower. Basically an added boost to snipers and scout rifles. Titans should have way more Armor and be more proficient in melee, shotguns, and auto rifles. Warlocks (why they're called this is unknown to me) should be more "magic" based. Their special is regened way faster and is more powerful than other classes. Things of this nature would make the choice of class far more important and allow players the ability to pick more to their desired play style. All these are just ideas and I have more but i'm tired of writing for now. So, I don't know, let me know what you guys think.

        • I want cutscenes for kills.. Like halo assassinations but obviously unique. Warlock has a ball of void and punches a captain in the chest and he disintegrates Titan jumps and brings his elbow down on the head of a knight all the way to the ground Hunter thrown a knife in a vex head jumps on the enemy bringing him to the ground and pulls the knife out Think each subclass should have 5-6 different ones , would be sweet to see our character in third person in PvE and of course would be sweet in PVP

          • There should be a PvE and/or PvP space combat mode involving massive amounts of guardians invading a capital ship with either an extremely tough boss inside or the boss is flying around in a super ship

                  • Not sure if this has been mentioned or not (seeing as the list is +200..) but more ship-related elements. Like when a friend joins your game, maybe their ship flies into view 10 feet away, drops them off and then flies away. It'd be cool if this applied to all players entering and leaving a map - constant air traffic in the space age this games exists in. That said, when leaving the tower - maybe your load screen is in the hangar bay opposed to already in orbit. Your ship is being fueled up and assisted out or something.

                      • It would be cool if Bungie did holiday events. For example there could be an event for Halloween where the tower is decorated Halloween style. There could also be a vendor that sells Halloween themed class items, shaders, ships, and guns, which could only be purchased with special currency earned from doing Halloween themed missions and bounties. And in turn by doing the missions you also earn Halloween themed armor. The missions could have certain modifiers to make things more scary such as less lighting, no radar, faster enemies, and enemies that don't die unless shot in the head(or else they come back to life when killed with a body shot). The bounties would be mainly based around killing Hive(zombies) and Vex(killer robots/Terminators) and would also reward you with special currency.

                        • This is something I had posted generally in the Feedback section, but it seems to be getting lost in all the conflict garbage. So, I figured here would be the perfect place to share.
Hello, wonderful Ladies and Gentlemen at Bungie! While I was playing, an idea struck me. Many people have come across armor designs that they truly admire while playing through and leveling up. However, after a while, we lose that really cool looking armor piece because we eventually need to upgrade to better gear. I was thinking: what if there was a way to get that armor piece's frame and apply it to a better piece of armor. For instance, you could go into details for that helmet design you love, and there would be an option to dismantle it to get the frame. You wouldn't get any materials or glimmer; just the frame. The piece would be dismantled the same way though. Then, you could go to a piece of armor that is better than the one you got the frame from. (I think it should only be frames from worse armor pieces, because it'd be odd seeing a legendary model on a really low level armor piece. Also, I believe you shouldn't be allowed to get the frame of an exotic. They're already the highest tier, and each is unique.) When you go to your better armor piece, there could be a button in details called 'apply frame'. When you click that button, it shows your inventory and your armor frames, then you pick the one you want. When you apply the frame, it should cost a certain amount of materials and glimmer to actually apply it. This is quite a complex request, but I hope you at least consider it. I tried to make it balanced, but it's obviously something you can tinker with to fix your desires. This is simply the husk of an idea, but I'm curious if you see potential in it. Even if this addition came months or years later, many players and I would be happy. I think shaders are an awesome way to make your armor the colors you want, but sadly there isn't something like this to get the model you want. Anyway, thank you; good work; and good luck, Bungie! :D (PS - RIP cool Warlock helmet with the backwards spike on the front :'C ) Edit: If any of you on the forums have anything to add to this idea, feel free to do so! I love collaborating with new and different ideas!
• Adjutant suggested this on another post. I'm reiterating the idea here with my embellishments. Massive public encounter boss fights! 32+ My contribution is this: "Oryx has awoken!" Or "Crota has landed!" And a beautiful meteor smashes the ground, nuking everyone in the current zone, and everyone in the nearby zone gets to see it happen. Boss stands mega tall. 5 Million hit points (I'm flexible on the Hp limit. Might be too low for 32 well armed players). I'm inspired by the idea that a brand new player could stumble on some epic grandiose encounter and have no idea what the hell was happening. Immersion meter pegged! I also like the idea of a pack of players coming together in a public space and summoning the massive boss monsters. Everyone in zone can help and sustain the fight. Everyone gets rewards, but the summoning team gets the special "mission only/raid" loot roll. Oh! And a message could hit the tower on everyone's screens that acts as a rallying cry for guardians to join in on X planet and zone. Automatic matchmaking for important stuff! Let the games begin.

                            • I start a new thread with an idea for larger multiplayer here: http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/71013124 But I really love the spirit of this post, so I'm going to just post my ideas here and hope that is o.k. with everyone! On The Destiny Battlefield I wanted to see if we could contribute some positive ideas on how to make Destiny a game that we all want to player for the next coming years. For my contributing idea I would like to propose a larger scale multiplayer type of game. The idea is to mix two game that I enjoy quite a bit. I love the look, sci-fi settings and characters of Destiny but really enjoy the larger multiplayer gameplay of Battlefield. The things I really enjoy from Battlefield is the ability to play different sides, play either as the bad guys or good guys. The other thing I really like it that there are destructible environments, this has a huge impact on gameplay over the course of a map. The other thing that I find very fun about Battlefield is the large amount of players on the map. I find the chaos a bit more fun and for a player like me, I die quite a bit so it lets me enjoy the game a bit more. The last really big thing I enjoy about Battlefield are the vehicles. So I’m imagining a scenario where you can go on a large map and play as either a guardian, the Fallen, the Hive, Vex or the Cabal. There would be drop ships for all groups, tank types, land speeders (sparrow) equipped with weapons, hover vehicles (heli), and jet types equipped with weapons (guardian ships). The matches would be fought for control over land masses on the different planets. Imagine a planet by planet tug of war game where evil either progresses forward toward Earth or the Guardians repel the forces of darkness further and further into the recesses of space. I also really like the idea that if you played as any of the evil classes that you could actually even play the role of one of the leadership for that class. (Becoming a playable boss character at that point) Idea, you could reserve this option for whoever has the highest stats for that map session. I also like the thought that you could possibly pick up enemy weapons after they have been defeated and use them as well. Other larger ideas for this playing scenario would be that these matches could run every hour on the hour, and at any time from multiple devices you could see the progression of the Destiny universe as far as who is progressing forward or being held back. You could also set up platoons with your friends. There could be opportunities for larger roles like a general who views the match from a much higher level and sets spawn points for your side so you can plug holes or hold fronts during combat. A general could also order air strikes and deploy drop ship missions. I could see drop ship missions being important as well, were you need a skilled pilot and enough manpower to man the artillery for the ship so it doesn’t get shot down by ground forces. You could even have a single player modifier that ties into the multiplayer matches that are continuously raging in, to where it could make you or your enemies more powerful for that are depending on who has control of that part of the map/world at the time. And if your actions on the single player missions could contribute to overall stats for the larger multiplayer battle that is going on. So here is a framework for a suggestion, I would love to hear your thoughts as well. Would you like to see this type of game? And if so, what could be added to make it more of what you are looking for?

                              • Thank you again for creating this... I was thinking of doing the same thing if I didn't see anything like this pop up soon. The voting is fantastic as well. However, I just fear that your separated threads may be buried too quickly before any voting can start on them... I just made a post for #destiny and the second it was posted, I still can't find it after searching through 12 pages. Maybe creating a single thread with a list separating your summarized ideas would be more beneficial. The tallying of the votes would be harder and require more work (because you would have to go by what people would vote for from their comments), but it certainly can be done. Of course, you can go with your original idea, but with the possibility of you using the idea I have above, I would be more than happy to contribute to the vote counting so the process could go faster. After the thread gets noticed and doesn't get buried, a deadline could be set and final tallying could begin after the deadline is met. Feel free to PM me if you feel the need. What you''re doing requires a decent amount of work for a single person, and I just thought that to show my appreciation and faith to this community as you're doing, volunteering to help you with this project would be perfect. You may want to keep this as a solo job, which I completely understand as well. Thank you again for starting this! I feel like Bungie is watching this thread closely, so let's show them some true community pride!

                                  • I'm talking like a limited time event that is a thing you join like patrol for 3 weeks but it's a huge fight in some new destination like a second battle at twilight gap with tons of enemies vs any guardian in the area trying to take points and hold them from groups of fallen and if guardians have the most hard points at the end something happens at the tower that's good but if they lose some thing bad happens

                                    • This games obvious issues need to be addressed. Otherwise destiny is a sinking ship. Thus far Deej has just entirely dodged the main concerns with some half-assed updates that do nothing to fix the problem. As of this moment the storyline and repetative gameplay is about as interesting as watching twilight on blueray.

                                      • #161: have Xur sell exotic bounties instead of exotics. I've been putting a lot of thought into this one. I've seen it around else where and I'm gunna combine my idea with another's below. If I could remember who it was I'd give them credit. So, sorry dude if you're reading this! I'd specify that further. personally I'd like to see him sell an exotic bounty ENGRAM for both armor and weapons. Meaning you don't know the weapon you are getting or the armor - although the armor would be specific to your class. Like a warlock, hunter, or Titan exotic armor bounty Engram. Raise the prices of such too. 13 or 23 strange coins is so completely random. Better yet - I stated this below but I'll mention it here too- have it so that the price is the glimmer cap plus the strange coins. that way regardless of how many strange coins you have you'll be limited by your glimmer. and since your glimmer is shared by all your characters it's the perfect way of decreasing exotic bounty purchases to a reasonable number. Also makes the glimmer buffs worth it to use. Make these exotic bounty engrams more difficult. like really difficult. stupid difficult. make the player actually feel accomplished from reaching that absurd goal to get the exotic piece. if everyone has it then it doesn't really "tell a story" like bungie intended. As for these exotic bounties - I say keep them spread between PVP and PVE world. why? It's a challenge. Makes you step outside of your comfort zone. making the bounties have requirements for both appeals to both types of gamers while still challenging them. it makes it worth it. WORTH IT. I'm not a huge PVP fan and would prefer all PVE based bounties but realistically I like having a reason to explore the other portion of the game. I love skirmish with some friends - it's a great play style - so again I'd say leave them. If you don't agree because you've gotten a bounty- let's say the thorn bounty- and can't do the 500 void damage points because it's too difficult and you hate PVE. I say put the shoe on the other foot. Get the bad juju bounty. 25 strikes is a lot regardless of difficulty. That's a PVP fanatics nightmare. just food for thought. Oh and I also believe that if the bounty includes strikes - a req should be it has to be done within a few levels of your difficulty. None of this... I'm gunna do the Devils lair 25 times -.- Lastly make it so the the exotic bounties have to be turned back into XUR - not the bounty robot. And keep these bounties in the missions section of the menu to not take of space in the small bounty section. So yeah even if you do complete it you can't get it until the next Xur arrival. (Optional) From there he gives you the blueprints for the gun and maybe just maybe the gunsmith can be of some actual use. Oh and maybe Xur can sell legendary exotic engrams for armor/weapons as stated above but have the cost be 25k glimmer and a few strange coins or something else. Or if the glimmer cap is raised make it be all your glimmer essentially and some strange coins. Though less than the exotics or something. Down the list there was another point about extending Xur. I think Friday morning to Sunday night would be enough instead of Sunday morning. Basically just slap another 12 hrs on him and that's fair. Thoughts?

Bosses that look different than the mobs? Let's make a mob 2x bigger and call it a boss... No thanks.
