The new patch will be arriving shortly for us, and just in time! I am curious to see how the community feels about it, so I decided to make a major thread for C&C.
Personally I, highly agree with this patch! I was happy with the last, and this one goes with it nicely. I'll now be very happy when receiving legendary engrams! Even blues now I guess.
Only thing is, people have already found many new farming "caves". So next week, when this patch goes live, expect to see a lot of 29s when they start racking up the shards lol.
In case you missed the patch notes, I'll paste it here for you in courtesy of Bungie!
The 1.0.2 patch will go live next week, and includes several changes to the Cryptarch and Engram experience. These changes guarantee that Engrams will always decode into items at or above the quality of an engram.
Only Engrams that drop after 1.0.2 are subject to this change.
Cryptarch Changes
Cayde-6 took the Cryptarch aside and showed him a sack of doorknobs. He decoded that mystery pretty quickly.
Legendary Engrams will always produce Legendary or better quality items, including Materials or Exotics
Rare Engrams will always produce Rare or better quality items
Rare engrams will have an increased chance to produce Legendary quality items
Activity Changes
Daily Heroics, Weekly Heroics, and Vanguard: Tiger Playlist activities will include Rare and Legendary Engrams in addition to their existing rewards
Item Changes
Ascendant materials have been promoted to Legendary to closer associate them with the gear they are used to upgrade
Legendary Engram items that exist in your inventory will be demoted to Rare quality when the patch goes live, so decode them while you can. But let’s be honest--even if you don’t, we all know they were blues already...
This patch is bullshit. I just got a blue from a purple engram, today Oct 2nd, 2014
-
I think they should keep the old system. This new patch might destroy individuality in the game. There's only so many legendaries and exotics in the game, & people who find legendary engrams often like me, will just get mad legendaries and I think that's unfair.
-
No power in the verse can stop Cayde-6
-
I've been pretty lucky. Some of my blues turned into purples, some of my purples turned into exotics. I've enjoyed the player rage at this so called Troll Arch. To me, the true troll is the Crucible. 5.0 KDR gets green class emblem....0.14 KDR gets exotic shotgun. The Trollcible.
-
So is the patch live right now?
-
Need the Shotgun nerf fast, Thats all I want. Range is ridiculous.
-
ITT: Just keep your engrams at the postmaster from the Cryptarch instead of picking them up until Tuesday. Technically they wouldn't be in your inventory yet.
-
Is the patch live now? I didn't notice the update when I logged in earlier.
-
There mentioned separately that the new patch reinforces the idea that doing strikes missions etc will yield more and better engrams than farming.
-
I'm not sure how you expect to see a lot of level 29's its still hard to get the ascendant shards needed to level the armor and as it is it only gets you to high level 26 low level 27 without the shards so, your still gonna have to grind, if not for legendaries than shards
-
Since this was a patch preview, hopefully there's some other positive changes in the patch notes that'll be a surprise.
-
Personally I think cave farming is useless. Now it's a quick fix but later it's going to have been wasted play time. Bungie announced that only 3% of the guardians in the game have obtained the trophy for maxing out crucible and vanguard marks and only 2% have obtained rank 3 vanguard... While my clan is sitting here rank 3 and 4 with all factions. Beat the raid in 3 hours first try and completes the nightfall on the reg. when they do away with the loot caves and there's nothing left to do but play the game and 75% or more of the people playing can't even complete high level strikes with out getting their hand held the entire way it will be clear who worked for game progression. Love this game and can't wait to see what is to come..

Edited by OmniDevil: 9/30/2014 3:35:30 PMAs long as drop rates are decreased slightly, I'm fine with this. At least this way, when a Legendary does drop, you know you're at least getting a Legendary. With the drop rates decreased a bit, getting one to drop would increase their worth and merrit. I've never been too into Shotguns, except via PVE, so I'm indifferent about that one. ARs do need to be toned down in their effective range.

DeeJ said "this week" which probably means later in the week. I guess we're stuck with the shotgun whores for another few days.
-
Cool. Wish this would of been here since center launch but better late than never.
-
I think this should of not been a patch it shoudl have been this way since day one. I mean at least engram wise, why have color coded engrams when the color of the items you get from them is random? i mean it is common sense if purple = purple item, if blue= blue item, if green = grene item, was that too hard to think of from the start?
-
Will be interesting to see when this goes live.
-
Those notes were posted last week so it should be going live sometime this week
-
I think that they are addressing issues that need to be addressed, but they are going a little beyond what they need to do. This game rewards people who play every aspect, from bounties, daily and weekly activities and everything in between, there is no shortage of equipment anywhere. To put yourself into a position to where you can be effective in the Raid, you need to practice multiple elements of the game to be able to contribute. Making all Legendary engrams give legendary equipment is going to flood the players inventory and soon, those of us who have that rare moment of pure excitement when decoding, will have something like "oh great, now I have 3 stacks of ascendant shards". It is a little bit on the excessive side to change the Cryptarch that much in my opinion. It seems that the people who are having a hard time getting gear have yet to flush out some of the spots in the game where equipment drops. Just last night I played with 4-5 different people who were spending hours looking for 10 Relic Iron....hours.....for just 10. I think the fix is directed towards the people who are feeling cheated because they don't have/can't get/don't deserve the equipment that other people either work hard to get or are rewarded it from extreme patience and activity. Flame away.

Where is the patch.. Just got another blue -_-
-
I like the patch but there could be one more thing on it, when i decode an engram i want that piece to be for the class that i'm using and not for other classes, i'm a hunter i don't want warlock or titan things
-
You know what I'm afraid of though.... Say before the patch it was: 4 hr playtime average 25 blue engrams and 4 legendary engrams (I KNOW THESE AREN'T THE ACCURATE NUMBERS!) and then only 1 would turn into an actual legendary so you would have: 4 hrs played = 28 blues and 1 legendary And now AFTER the patch it will be: 4 hr playtime average 28 blues and 1 legendary. Since it will now actually turn into a legendary, the odds will STILL be the same, meaning we will simply see a lot LESS legendary engrams, and have the exact same outcome as before.
-
I am happy with the changes, i am tired of the Cryparch smiling and then kicking me in the balls every time a bring him an engram
-
About time Bungie gave the Cryptard a sack of doorknobs
-
I've had soooo many purples turned into blues by the cryptarch. So I leveled my vanguard so I can buy the legendaries. I make my own luck.
-
I was happy with it the way it was; exotics and legendaries should be hard to come by. The mystery of not knowing what an engram contains was exciting...the anticipation. I liked it. But I'm sure I'll keep playing and enjoying the game.
