Many people are bitching about Bungie nerfing the loot system constantly. Removing the ability to break down Queens Wrath items for upgrade mats...destroying the loot cave...etc. Even spending hours upon hours at that dumb cave, maybe one out of 20 or so legendary engrams only produced a legendary item...everything else was a rare. I've also spent hours upon hours doing the level 28 strikes to the same end. What I don't understand is why nobody at Bungie has come to the conclusion that simply making the Grimoire score a modifier for drops is a great way to resolve all of the bitching. It increases playability by getting people to play all three classes for a chance to get better drops. It makes you change your play style by using other weapons. I honestly can't think of a possible downside to allowing your players to get a better CHANCE for loot based on their time spent playing this somewhat broken game.

They don't want to dictate how players play though. They want to try to balance the classes/activities/events such that YOU can choose. A few things in the game go against this mantra such as bounties that require kills with a certain weapon or require you to use a certain subclass because the other is defensive in nature... but they are relatively small in nature. You can just skip them and it's not a big deal. I think your suggestion would change that mantra at its core, and a lot more players would feel like Bungie is dictating the way they have to play.
