No matchmaking for Raids is a deal breaker for me.

The title pretty much says it all. I know some people hate group finders, but for some people, like me, they are needed. I don't have a lot of time to play, and when I do, I don't want to waste a bunch of time looking for a group, especially in a game like this that doesn't have an easy way to find people. If this were a PC MMO, then yeah, I could just spam the message service and find a group, not so in this game. Bungie says that this is a decision they made on purpose. They would like to see the community build sites that allow people to match up for raids. Well there is a reason why this gets done, BECAUSE THE GAME DOESN'T HAVE A GROUP FINDER. It isn't because the game is so cool, that we go out of our way to do this, it is because there is no other choice. I am a web developer, and I applaud those that take the time to make sites like that, example Guild War 2, but that is no reason for a developer of a game to say, oh well, we will leave it up to the community. Another reason they give is that the raids are too difficult. They are afraid that "casual groups:" will lose players and not be able to complete the raid, to that I say LET THEM FAIL! First of all, don't underestimate your players, call them casual, and take something away. Give them what they ask for, and let them fail. At least we will feel like we have a chance. Some might say that you can do it solo, to that I say give me a break. If 6 people can barely get through it, solo would be stupid to try. I don't care if I get flamed for this, it has to be said for those who feel like me. When you put out a game that is fun, but lacks content, then add content that only certain players can enjoy, it's like a slap to the face. Adding a matchmaking service for raids HARMS NO ONE. If the raids are as difficult as Bungie states they are, then people will still have to do everything that you want the community to do. Don't force your fans to do something they don't want to do, they are fans after all. I am a long time Bungie supporter, from Halo to now Destiny. I have been on these boards defending this game, but that is now over. I refuse to play this game until this is resolved. If that takes me never playing again, so be it. I have plenty other games to play on the PC, XONE, and PS4. It's not worth the agitation. I want to wish you guys good luck on the game (if any Bungie employees actually read these rants), and hope it lives for a long time. #UPDATE: So I lasted about 12 Hrs without Destiny, and now I am back in the game...... Damn you Bungie!!! It is a fun game, and I don't see myself leaving it because of this anymore. I still would like to see matchmaking come to raids and other daily missions though!

  • To people who are saying "oh you can't beat vog without communication blah blah blah". While that might be true, it doesn't take a genius to figure out how to do it. There's also vids that show you. WoW has matchmaking so why can't Destiny?

    • I mainly game on my Xbox one but bought destiny for my ps4 because I knew I would use the ps4 if I got destiny for it. The only problem is I don't have any friends on my ps4 list. So it really sucks when I want to do strikes. I have to go solo and most if the time I can't win alone. They definitely need to make it to where randoms can play strikes together.

    • I think they should make a level 18-20 raid so everyone can experience the raid. I only did because there was some awesome guardians on these forums that helped me through it. Everybody should get to try it. It is a lot of fun! Don't hide the best level behind a lot of restrictions.

          • I feel the same they should make matchmaking for raids but if you post on the forums you will have atleast 20 people ready to rock and roll within 2 minutes.

          • Matchmaking is a bad idea for groups of more than 4+. Someone will inevitably try to take lead/cause wipes/die to not knowing boss mechanics/ect. I recommend you just raid with some friends and friends of friends. When you have a group that knows what they're doing, you're likely not to waste any time and beat the raids in under a couple hours at worst. Set a weekly time to do the raid and reap the rewards.

          • I have not done a raid yet, I did go into it solo to see what it was about. I understood the first few minutes I was there what is required just to open the door but being by myself there was simply no way to do so. I left and went back to doing strikes and had an idea. If this raid is normal mode and when beaten you get to do a hard mode, what about an easy mode? A 3 player raid with match making, not the vault of glass mind you, a new raid that has mechanics built for a 3 man fire team. You can still earn shards and energies and legendaries equivalent to the vangaurd gear but maybe slightly better attributes. It can have 2-3 bosses to fight, it won't take as long or be has hard as vault of glass, but then its just to introduce players to the raid system and mechanics if they wish to do the harder ones. Players get access to the content without feeling segregated and those who did VoG have the better gear.

            • If you don't have that much time to play, then you probably shouldn't try the raid. Honestly, matchmaking would break this raid and make it near impossible to finish, at least until a good majority of players have finished it and know how to speed run it.

            • Some you dont understand the difficulty of find people who want to play raids. Im spanish and i understand english but my speech is not very good, do i have to wait for a fully spanish team in a forum? or im not allowed to do it because my spanish friends are not enouggh/have no time to play when i can? this is not a fair mode. I have reached lvl 27 without doing raids but now i fuind just impossible to progress without assistance in high level missions. I was posting to do the raid in the forum and everybody ignored me. I think matchmaking can be good, not all the people are english speaker or all the people have enough friends to complete a mission. And the first raid i did was with 5 random guys. I f you know what to do, it can be accomplish with strangers

              • I didn't think I'd miss matchmaking when I first heard about it, but I do. Don't get me wrong...I hear all the people saying it's difficult, and inadvisable for casual groups to try it. But I'd at least like the option to try the content while waiting for friends to catch up. And while we're on the subject, why isn't there any matchmaking for Daily & Weekly Heroics, and Nightfall strikes? If you ask me, this is counterintuitive in the context of modern gaming. Strikes are shorter, and anyone who drops out can be replaced through a queue. I'd love to do more of these, but until friends catch up, I feel like I'm in pause mode.

              • I take it you've never attempted the raid. There is a reason they didn't do a matchmaking for it, because it requires flawless teamwork and chemistry. NONE OF WHICH you will find with randoms. Even with a team of friends, it was a challenge the first time. You'll just waste your time trying to get through the raid if you're doing it with randoms.

              • As much as i completely understand your post and where you're coming from, there is no way 6 randoms teaming up for the raid in match making will even get past the first stage of the first boss. This is coming from a lvl 29 hunter that has already beat the raid twice. Like you said, your setting yourself up for failure let alone about to be frustrated out of your mind. You have no idea how much mechanics mean in the raid and how flawlessly all 6 players have to be to be able to get through each stage of the raid. In all honesty, the raid isnt even fun its an absolute headache.

                • I agree with everything you have said here, it is absolutely amazing in this day and age of "social" games that they don't have match making for the weekly heroic strike and things like the Queen's Wrath bounty missions, in addition to the raid, which I will probably never play due to not having enough people on Xbox One that were interested in this game.

                • There's literally no way to beat vault of glass without communication. So do tell how you expect to beat it when no one ever talks in matchmaking. I'm glad they didn't add a matchmaking feature to raids.

                • I completely agree with you. Fine if Bungie doesn't want to install an in game chat, I would have no problem with that if were to counterbalance it with matchmaking for things like raids.

                • I disagree. Matchmaking would ruin the Raid completly. If you can't find a group then that is your problem, plenty of raiders here on the Forums who are looking for groups.

                • Playing the raid last night and beating it for the first time, you almost need to have people you know so you can communicate. Trust me, randoms would make it 10 times harder.
