Title says it all.. I played most the Halos, all the Call of Duties, the last two Battlefields, and some Rainbow 6. I'm a average to above average fps'er depending on the genre.
Destiny on the other hand.. I've never gotten so frustrated in a FPS before in my entire life. I can officially say I've thrown my controller out of rage for the first time in my entire gaming career.
Destiny's PVP is just not fun! Whether I drop a 2.0 K/D or a 0.5 K/D, I still end the match frustrated like hell! I feel like it's the most unbearable grind trying to get crucible marks and crucible bounties done.
Maybe PVP would be tolerable if there was a damn game mode that deactivated Radar/Supers/Vehicles/Special Ammo. I feel like most my encounters I run into a rocket launcher, blade runner, a pike, or a nova bomb.. I do not see myself playing the crucible much anymore, even if it means not ever getting crucible Legendaries.
Before all the hate comes in, can you guys seriously say that Destiny's PVP hasn't made you want to rage ever? Halo made me irritated plenty, but at least it was fairly well balanced and you didn't have to worry about getting thunder fisted in every dark alley.

As a COD player, you might appreciate this. Remember back in MW2 where basically everything was overpowered? Commando, Danger Close, Grenade Launchers, Stopping Power, UMP-45, Barrett .50 Cal, Akimbo G18? It seemed like everything kills so fast and so effectively in that game. I started to look at Destiny the same way. Yeah there's a lot if crazy stuff that kills people so easily. But since everyone basically has access to said crazy stuff, it doesn't bother me. Everything can be overpowered in the right hands, with the right attitude. The balance in this games PvP comes from the chaos of everything being OP. As for the reward system... That's a separate issue

Love when players list half the weapons content in this game and say....... I only get killed by......
-
I'm kind of in the same boat. Above average player on pretty much every other pvp game that has come before this, but I just get face stomped in the crucible, to the point I don't want to even bother with it. Unless you have an exotic gun with all the stuff on it unlocked you are at a huge disadvantage. However you can still level up crucible by turning in 50 resources to the crucible vendor. It takes forever but you still get rep points and marks for it.
-
It sounds like you just have anger management buddy. :/
-
Call of duty less irritating this guy is blazed out of his mind...
-
seriously the pvp isn't that hard i get first all the time and i pretty much just use my primary with an occasional grenade or two
-
So you have no beef with special ammo but heavy ammo , and how is thus more frustrating than cod which half of the weapons a insta killers plus panic knives. I think you just need to get used the maps and how people act , but then again I am not that good at crucible and only played a couple games
-
I don't rage. Honestly.
-
I'll admit the pvp is pretty rage inducing, but Maybe it's because your used to smashing through hundreds of enemies unharmed in pve.

It's a much different learning curve to other games, learn the game and instead of raging of a certain death, think what you could of done better. I started really bad, and now I'm starting to get it. Use your radar, use shotgun for close quarter encounters, use a decent auto rifle or burst for medium encounters. Bigger maps I use a sniper and snipe people off vehicles. Use your ears to listen out for hunters activating their supers and either get ready to kill them first or get out of the way. Don't let people get close to you, and if they do make sure you have the drop on them by using you environment/cover and also crouching can help a lot to keep you off radar sometimes and catch them off guard. Use your supers when you know there are going to be a lot of people at an objective Learn the maps and use situation awareness, aim for the head, use radar and your be fine. Also don't rush about like a nutter, this was my worst thing. Soon as I slowed it down a bit and let the enemy come to me more than me trying to kill them, I had the upper hand. No I don't mean camp, for example - you see a enemy on the radar, he's near you. Instead of you running towards him and getting shot, let him come towards you and you can get that first shot off and take him out faster if you are aiming at head.
-
Sure but if you would never feel rage there would be no satisfaction. I Rage when someone uses a super on just me. It's just lazy, lack of skill, noobish and it doesn't help the team. Choos your battles wisely.... i know i do

I think the PvP is just different. There are elements that aren't in other games. The supers, heavy ammo drops, different melee strikes and the jumps each class can do. You have to create a playstyle, more than any other PvP before it, and I for one, love it! Side note - I do die more than I ever have done in any other PvP.
-
I remember one time - I played a 2 on one against a few friends in Halo; we kept everything the same, so no one got an unfair advantage, but we kicked up speed to (What was it?) 300%? And it boiled down to basically Bull-rushing with Shotguns. I won 50 kills to maybe 13. Did a similar thing with CoD (The earlier ones, when they were -kind of- fresh.) 15000 to 6750; and that was with them finding a room where they had high ground, and coverage on all entrances. That being said - Destiny? I pull 3rd and below during (Using a different account, this one is Silver and PvE focused), PvP. And I typically favor Scout Rifles, Sniper Rifles, and my Golden Gun. Occasionally I'll get 1st, going for a certain bounty, and playing it safe/defensively. Other times I'll get last, because I tried to be Sci-Fantasy Rambo. The only thing I couldn't stand, was the Shotguns - but once I learned to use my ranged knife/follow up shank technique, I was side-stepping those who would cheese me! Only to get cheesed from behind.... -blam!-it!

Cool story bro
-
hey guys let's get rid of all the things that makes destiny unique ok bye
-
Yeah, it's garbage.
-
Haha it's just different brah.Remove all these things like supers, vehicles, radar, special ammo and heavy ammo, you get the same boring crap that has been on the shelves for ages.It actually takes some skills to not get hit and die by a super.I miss my super all the time.I love it.I'm not the best by a long shot but i'm having fun as hell. But i see no problems with options though like you said.Would i play those modes you want?Probably not.And i have played all them shooters. A tip, learn (if you haven't yet) the maps,it helps alot.

Dude, it pisses me off as well but I really feel it's as if I'm just not figuring it out. I think I need practice or to run with some dudes who can show me a thing or three. Also teamwork really makes a huge giant difference Luck mate, add me if you wish to team up

Pvp is easy though

Edited by Sean: 9/23/2014 10:28:13 PMWait! Are you saying that you don't like having people spawn with instant kill weapons, be it ranged or close up? According to Bungie, that is the future of competitve PvP, and then combined with how you can't coordinate with random teammates just sreams for balanced.
In all seriousness, the PvP is broken, but the easiest fix would be to remove speical ammo from when you spawn (at start or at any point in the game), and then reduce the amount of special ammo in the match itself.
Hate to say it but I agree. The weapon and class balsnce just dosent feel right. precision primary weapons like scout and pulse rifles feel rather weak weras spray and pray weapons such as the auto rifle kill ridiculously fast even at mid to long range. I have never found a more frustrating game experiance than the crucible
-
I've never raged over any video game ever. The point is to have fun, so if it isn't...turn it off. I will admit that people using rocket launchers is irritating but I can't really argue that it's affective.
-
Every FPS can make me rage only thing that pisses me off is heavy ammo and panic fisters though
-
-
I agree that there is too much insta-killing going on, but I like the crucible most of the time anyways. An ok game to play while waiting for others hehe

The main issue I have with the PVP is the TTK, I find it takes far too long to kill someone, but that's probably because I play Battlefield and the TTK is very low there.
