Got 6 Purple Engrams Today.....
All of them turned into blues. This has become infuriating. I have gotten a total of 10 purple engrams so far, 8 turned into blues, and 2 into items my class can't use. I can't helped but to feel upset by the loot system. Thoughts on your experiences?

just had one turn into the Shadow Prince. I almost blew the cryptark right on the spot.

I'm 3/6 for legendary engrams actually being a legendary item, had a blue turn into a legendary though.

30+ purple, 2 became exotic, 4 legendaries, a few became strange coins or shars/energy and the rest are blue.

2 RepliesI've never gotten purple gear from a purple engram. They've always been from blues. I honestly think they have a better chance for purple, since purples can be so many other things (exotic, coins, etc etc), plus you get more of them.

I have now 2 pieces of legendary armor, 1 legendary weapon and 1 exotic. None of them came through engrams. They all turn out rare items. I got my two armour pieces with vanguard points, my weapon as a vanguard lvl3 reward and the exotic item as a lvl24 vanguard strike reward. Cryptarch is a big troll.

I've gotten lucky with the last few purples I have. Maybe having your Cryptarch to level 22 helps.

When people ask about my sick gear, which badass encounter in the wild dropped my epic loot , or was it a hour long boss battle that gave me my amazing exotic legendary gear ?! I tell them the truth [spoiler]I went downstairs in the tower and bought it. That's how I became legend. By buying my gear on a sales rack at the tower discount store. [/spoiler]

2 RepliesI've found the best way to get legendary gear is increase vanguard/crucible/faction rank and buy them. At the end of this week the only non-legendary/exotic item I have will be my primary.

Agreed! I don't know why Bungie bothered to color them in the first place. I've ranked up both the cryptarch as well as overall and I still have my purples decoded to blue's. Worthless portion of the game at this point, but i'm sure that "after 20 hours the game is totally different" oh yeah, i'm past that and it feels the same.

You see a level 24 and think "aww man they are probably having the worst time, hope they get LUCKY soon." It's wrong to have a fast horizontal leveling system where you still hit a wall, not because you don't have the skill, but because you didn't have any luck. It's literally like slot machines in real life put into a game. Everyone hates it but it's so addicting on a genetic level. Which isn't gameplay innovation it's just hustling. if this was made by zynga we'd be paying $0.99 for every engram we wanted to decode. $2.99 for legendaries and $5 for exotic engrams.

I think I have had seven or eight total legendary engrams, and from what I have been reading from most of you I consider myself lucky. I have gotten one exotic (Plan C, fusion rifle) and a legendary cloak. The cloak looks cool, but it doesn't help any stats. Plan C is useful for Strikes and VoG but I don't use fusion rifles besides that. But like I said I'm not complaining.

My friend is in the same boat as you however and he was pretty pissed last night when we went to decrypt our shiz and his Legendary gave him crap where as me and a friend of his both got Exotics from our Legendaries. I always tell peeps its a love-hate relationship with the Cryptarch. Sometimes he bones me, sometimes he is the most amazing person in the world. Its all random, of course and this is the ONLY RNG game where Ive had any sort of luck (never the case for games like Madden or Fifa, particulary the Ultimate Team).

Yesterday I had a Legendary primary weapon engram and I was really hoping for a good hand cannon, turns out I got a crappy blue pulse rifle -_- but from turning that in I leveled up my cryptarch and got 2 rare engrams and from them I got a legendary launcher and boots!

I feel you bro but keep grinding I've ended up with legendary boots and three exotics, farm and level up the cryptarch rank because he hands out legendary engrams when you level up

I got over 20 purples yesterday. You don't know how pissed I am about them all being blue.

I was lucky enough to get a legendary from a Decoherent after decrypting about 6. It was a Hunter Chestplate though, I was a warlock. Luckily I have a level 15 Hunter :D. I'd recommend farming Decoherents and decrypt about 6 at once so he is "forced" to give you better items. (Better chance to get better items when you decrypt more than one and one time)

But one was an ok hand canon that can be upgraded with explosive rounds. I have had unlucky days for sure but makes it evan better when they stay purple.

I got four legendary engrams yesterday, all blues. But it's okay! I don't mind! I lowered my expectations considerably.
