if only you could equip your legendary gear, but change its appearance to other styles that you've collected before. this means you wont have access to the look/style until you've equipped it in the past. this will stop people from just equipping exotic styles right away. I dont like having to equip armor Im not all crazy about (aesthetically) just to keep my light stats up.
for example(may not be accurate at all for example purposes only): equip your tengu operative legendary chest piece with 10 light, 200 armor, 50 discipline. then be able to change its appearance to axiom coven uncommon (just cause you like the look) while keeping all your original stats from the tengu operative chest piece. worked really well in DC universe and its so much more satisfying knowing you can always change to whatever style you've collected before while still being a badass.
PLEASE BUNGIE GIVE US THIS FREEDOM OF CREATIVITY!!!
Ideas by other members/games for implementation:
Vanity Slots - Equip items that have the stats you like in the equipment slots to attain said stats. Then equip items you like the look of in the vanity slots, which give you no stats, but override the look of your equipped armor. submitted by subaqueuosReach
Transmogrification System - World of Warcraft, DC Universe Online, Diablo III all use similar systems
I will post your idea here if similar and relevant.
GUYS PLEASE GIVE THE THREAD A BUMP IF YOU AGREE, let yourself and opinion be known.

This should have been a no-brainer from the start. How are there so many of these little things in the game where you just scratch your head and wonder? Either certain designers at Bungie have no ability to think things through, or have never played a decent game before.....or both.

The more I hear about this, the more appealing it sounds. And maybe adding an X to the name of the modified armor, i.e. Knight Type O (X) to minimize confusion.
-
Agreed, the highest light gear which drops from the raid isn't even close to my favorite looking armor, in fact I hate how it looks, to top that off eventually people will complete it en masse and then everyone will looks like an oddly shaped vex (looking at you Kabr's set). PS: Let us change the colors of exotics. My helmet looks so out of place with any color besides black, which I don't even have.

Yes, having our cosmetics tied to our light levels and stats will just mean everyone is running around with the exact same armor cause changing to an older look you like better will drop your light.

really want this . bump .

This is in DC Universe. It's absolutely fantastic! This would be a perfect addition to this game
-
Like a transmog system?? I like the sound of that.
-
Vanity slots. I vote yes

Would love to see this. We should be able to build the look along with the character progession. This alone would keep me inerested. As of right now to progress, I have to build a mis matched character with odd colors everywhere.

Because in real life we can push a button and make metal change shapes? What a joke....

It would be nice to be able to do that. I do not wish to compare games but Diablo 3 eventually did this. All it would need is a new merchant and have it cost something to change the appearance.

I'm fine with these ideas, other than NEEDING to be free. I've got to spend this glimmer on something...

Edited by DarthSmurfX: 9/25/2014 4:34:55 PMGreat. I just posted this as my great idea before seeing your thread. I even compared it to DC Universe's system.

Definitely needed ASAP

Yes 1000000000 times. It would keep everyone from looking the same at level 20+ and diversify the community. I love it. And to be honest it's what I'd hope would have been in place from the start.

Isn't World of Warcraft doing something similar these days?
