BREAKING: Cryptarch suspected of engram fraud

In a shocking turn of events today, evidence has surfaced of the Cryptarch's involvement in engram fraud, implicating him in the tampering of rarity quotients of engrams. This news has rocked the Tower community, who saw the Cryptarch (real name Master Rahool) as one of its guiding figures and a source of much of its commerce. The smoking gun takes the form of leaked strings of source code which had their probability algorithms reconfigured, resulting in a dramatic decrease in the drop rates of coveted Legendary and Exotic items. The now infamous Legendary engrams were worst affected, with the Legendary/Exotic decryption rate plummeting to a pitiful 5%. Much speculation has arisen over the Cryptarch's motives, the most popular theory being that he was driving up business by facilitating an artificial scarcity of desired equipment. As for the tier rewards he reserves for his most prolific customers frequently turning out to be trash, this can only be credited to his personal malice and an unconditional hatred towards Guardians. The Cryptarch's criminal activity has shed further light on a possible connection to the Speaker, another pillar of the Tower community. It has been alleged that they were colluding to send unsuspecting Guardians out into the frontier on a never-ending search for superior gear, in order to further impose the will of the Traveler in its quest for interplanetary domination. The Speaker is no stranger to scandals himself. He has been heavily linked to the mysterious disappearances of several Pacifists who publicly condemned the invasion of numerous planets and the purging of its indigenous races, and questioned the manipulation of his cult-like following. While the Cryptarch remains under investigation, we strongly advise against soliciting his services, at least until engrams have been confirmed to function correctly. His actions have dealt a hammer blow to the reputation of crypto-archaeologists across the galaxy, and put them under intense scrutiny amid claims of their profession being a pseudoscience.
