BUGGED EPIC DROP RATE...
I have a question Bungie. Cause now I'm starting to get really pissed. Specially after today.
I have about 3 times as much play time as my pal (he's a lvl 24 titan, I am a lvl 24 hunter)
He has gotten 8 epic drops, I have gotten bloddy none.
Today I got 2 epic diagrams from a vendor and 2 random drops. My first once, after alot play time. They all bloddy dropped blue items. Is this freaken for real? Are your drop rates that bloddy unbalanced?
Please let me know. Tell me it is supposed to be like that, and I will leave this game to people who have better luck in it...This is starting to piss me off... Check my playtime, and you will see...
Anyone else have the same problem?

11 RepliesIf by epic you mean exotic, I have never witnessed an exotic engram drop for me and I honestly don't think any of my seven friends I normally play with have had one either, I'm sure I would have heard about it if they did. The exotic gauntlets I have came from a legendary engram, I didn't even know there were exotic engrams until Xur showed up last weekend. So no, you're not alone. I'm not sweating it myself but I also farmed my Vanguard rank up to get some more legendaries too.

I get a twitch when I open a Purple Engram, and then it's blue, or -one time- Gold and I either dance around or swear and go on to the next one. If every Purple dropped purple, everyone at the cave would be blinged out to beat all heck, with more purple than an army of pimps right now, and that spot would be the home to the largest gathering or players ever. The fact that there's blue things, or Motes of Light, or Ascendant Energy, Strange Coins, or Blue let-downs doesn't bug me anymore. Take it as the lottery scratch off ticket approach. YOU COULD WIN TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS! doesn't mean you WILL win ten thousand dollars, it's a ticket, it requires luck and chance, and most of the time you'll get what you put into it. In Destiny terms that's a lucky drop from a shot enemy. If it's awesome, it's SUPER awesome, otherwise it's not. If you want Engrams that give you awesome stuff, save up for Xur and buy Exotic Engrams with Motes.

the loot system is random the contents inside the ingrams are random. there are higher percentage rates for ingrams to turn into blue and green meaning about 9 times out of 10 your purple will turn into a blue when you go to decrypt it. the ingrams are meant to be thought of as a gambling system and youre supposed to grind for the faction gear. whatever you get from the dropped ingrams is supposed to be a bonus

I wouldn't think about it, it will happen when it happens, the more you think about it, the longer it is going to seem to take. I just got my first legendary last night, I was super excited, turns out it was for a hunter and I am a warlock. I am just playing to have fun, I don't let drop rates annoy me, I just see what drops and appreciate whatever I happen to get.

6 RepliesI am sorry guys but there is a reason why its called LEGENDARY, your not suppose to get it that easy, your friends my get alot of drops but how many of those engrams turns out to be legendary? I have been playing 72 hours and i only have 4 legendary items that came from a legendary engram, if it was easy we all would have been lvl 30 by now, if you want legendary items without earning them trough the raid or working to buy them go play a game where you can use cheats to make you look good or everybody can achieve every achievement

yes. it's needs to be this way. unless you think farming is gonna stop. RNG must remain in place. I got a legendary out of rare engram befor. most legendary engrams give me several rares and a coin or rare material. I have gotten one exotic engram. off a level 5 shank! wtf? but of course I rolled the dice at the cryptarch and it was rare material and three rares. my very first. legendary was bad ass Cape for a warlock. too bad I'm a Titan and going for hunter next.

Yeah the drop rate seems to be heavily flawed, I've put in 40 hours into the game so far recieved a few blues, and I think four purples, with only one turning out to be a purple, and even that was a rocket launcher, (my least used weapon). I think Bungie has specially designed the game to screw with your head, I got this Rare Ghost Mission from the Bounty boards a few days ago, and after finding the Ghost, and doing the Mission on Heroic you are given a task, mine is to disassemble 10 rare or legendary Fusion Rifles, guess how many Rare Fusion Rifles the game has dropped for me? None, I've not got a single Fusion Rifle, I've recieved all other weapon types but not a single Blue FR, and I've been stuck with level 14 Armour for days because the game won't drop any for me, I even had a purple armour engram and at this point I would have happy with a Blue instead I got 2 Motes of Light, I'm convinced this game has been designed to bait you, so you either rage quit or keep on coming back for more hoping for something better.

3 RepliesBungie really needs to make legendary engrams give legendary items. I finally got my first one from a crucible match and it gave me a rare chest piece that I already have. It should be if you get a legendary engram then it should be decoded into a damn legendary item. Only thing that pisses me off with this game.

This is normal. All but one of my legendaries turned to blue. The first one was exotic. And today I just had a blue turn to legendary. It's as random as it can get.

I have more time played then you and of the 20 or so legendary engrams I've gotten, I have a legendary sniper, a hunter cloack and a new monarchy bond. And NONE of my blue engrams have given me a legendary. I'm currently in all legendary with an exotic shotgun I just got tonight and the exotic Sunbreakers. All of my armor I bought with Vanguard or Crucible marks, or strange coins. My shotgun is from the exotic bounty, and my legendary scout rifle was given to me by the Vanguard for reaching rank 3. You're not alone in having crappy luck with the cryptarch, but it's entireley possible to get pretty well geared without relyng on the luck of the drops.

im level 9 with the cryptarch, I have around 25% of my blue engrams turn into greens, and exactly 90% of my purples have turned into blues, the only one that didn't was an awful chest for a titan(im a hunter), im pretty sure its that way for everyone, probably cus they expect you to grind rep, and collect marks, not kill level 4 mobs in cosmodrome, like the majority of people are doing...

I haven't had a significant problem with getting engrams, although I haven't gotten many Legendaries so far. My Legendary Hunter torso came from a Decahedron (Rare) Engram, whereas all of my Legendaries have turned to Rare equips or Motes of Light/Strange Coins. Oh, actually, I did get a Titan torso from a Legendary Engram, but as I'm a Hunter, I can't exactly use that... ;p Honestly if you're that worried about Legendary gear (which you truly, honestly don't need for 99% of the game; I've done everything except the Vault of Glass with my Rares), work on getting Vanguard Rank 3. You get a free Legendary weapon from that. Plus all those bounties may activate an Exotic Bounty, giving you a chance at an Exotic weapon. Then you can go for both and try to max them both for the trophies. :) Other than that, Strikes/Crucible till you drop!
