An open letter of thanks.

Hello Forum; Bungie. I've been playing video games for a long time. As have we all, I'm sure. I'm 26, and for the majority of my childhood, video gaming has been a very prosperous enterprise. Even during my six year stint in the US Army, I gamed often, enjoying bouts of World of Warcraft, or Call of Duty with my fellow soldiers during the downtime we rarely received. Since my exit from the Armed Forces last year, I've been drifting listlessly through the Playstation 4 content available, playing whatever caught my attention and never really feeling satisfied with my gaming experience, with few exceptions. Between college classes at my local community college, and my job at Gamestop, I'd lost any real excitement to head home, turn on my console, and play. Destiny changed that. I'm not sure what I expected from the hype. Working at a video game outlet certainly brought even more anticipation due to advertisement, and eager customers ready to throw cash at me. (White PS4 Destiny bundle. Shut up and take my money.) I found myself excited... and although the game wasn't exactly what I thought it might be, and could use some changes, I can't wait to put my school books down, clock out of work, and head home to dominate the crucible, or search for world events through patrol missions. I'm appreciative of that. I've always wanted to work in the video game industry. I've fancied my creativity and passion to be the right stuff for the job. I was excited to get hired at Gamestop, because at least I'm near the industry I love. (Irrelevant, but otherwise stated.) In New Orleans, the video game community isn't as large as I'd enjoyed in the military, but I still find ways to have fun, and be social. That being said, here's a few things I'd love to see, that I'm sure you've already thought of. Orbital Battles: The designs on the ships you've allowed us to purchase or otherwise earn are epic! The sleek, stylized designs are pleasing to look at, and really set the tone for an epic space opera. Most of them look armed, and ready to chew through some enemies, but alas; they do not have this opportunity. I realize it's a tall order, and murky waters set on by the examples of several Star Wars titles ranging from the Battlefront franchise, and their own FTP MMO experience. However, I'd like to see this perhaps. Give the ships an inventory similar to the Guardians. Let us upgrade it's hull armor, primary and secondary weapon systems and missles, boosters, ECT. Allow purchasing options for more colors and customization. Toss in emblems to really make the ship our own. Because we all know that a planet occupied by a highly advanced race of alien robots is not simply going to let us slip into the atmosphere of the planet their occupying and shoot them in their shiny little midsections. Create events where the orbits to the planets are being blockaded. Make the enemy presence felt in space, as well as the planets they occupy. Give players the opportunity to join in with their friends or random players to punch through the armada of the occupying force, to add an element of realism, and re-enforce the core theme of the entire game. I've had alot of people argue with me on this idea. But who cares, I'd love it. Though it'd be quite a feat of engineering. Additional Weapons: "You know what would be cool...!?" Is a sentence I find myself uttering alot with friends and family all excited about Destiny. It usually leads to this conversation. I had a random idea a few days into the game to add certain stylized weapons to customize and solidify the varied experience for each potential class. Add a bit of individualism to set them further apart, rather than a few varied abilities, and a skirt, cloak, or armband. Give the titans some form of unique equip weapon. Perhaps some sort of obnoxious chain gun that limits mobility slightly, but fires heavily damaging rounds, or perhaps they could replace their secondary with a shield similar to the ones used by the Cabal on Mars. Run it similarly to the Riot Shield on Call of Duty. Perhaps the Warlocks could have some sort of staff-like weapons, (Think Loki. Avengers Style.) A scepter that allows them to channel void or solar energy through themselves into a blast style weapons similar to the arc of a Knights heavy blast, or something like that. Toss in something that allows a hunter to switch to a melee oriented weapon even beyond using Blade Dancer. Not something overpowered, but something to let them take advantage of their stealth, while not constantly shotgunning fools to the head. A sword that operates on the same perimeters set by the Sword of Crota, or their own special currently in use. Scaled down to require a few more hits. These ideas would require a bit of balancing. But as you intend to vigilantly offer updates, balance could happen, even with something as interesting as this. Arm the Sparrow: This one I'm iffy on, I suppose. Allowing content similar to my earlier suggestion with the ships. (Inventory for upgrades, customization, armor, weapons, ECT.) on a smaller scale. Put an autorifle on one. Let us beef up the armor, colorscheme, boost, drift, strafe, and whatnot through items found in-game, as opposed to buying a new one when we want a pretty new color. Let us get attached to our ships and sparrows. This could be abused, I realize. However. Most areas you'd prefer us not get a Sparrow into are clearly set, and take a bit of wizardry to get into. Toss in some coding that dismounts you in areas where this could be abused. Limit Crucible mounting, and scale the Sparrow like everything else. Give us a reason to be attached to our favorite ship and personal transport. Despite my suggestions, (Which may or may not be torn apart by angry, opinionated gamers whose operational currency is self-back pats for shooting down or otherwise belittling others.) I love this game. I can't put it down, and I eagerly await each new piece of content. You'll be seeing me for a long time. Thanks for your time. Oblivionslain A.K.A Brian.

  • Bro. You're awesome. Every person on here is ranting because they want more or they want to change something. But you are saying thanks. And that inspires me. I would also like to thank bungie. This game is amazing and deserves more credit. It is amazing to see someone can actually see that this game is very good. And it has changed perspectives on games. I was getting bored, until I bought this game. Now I'm back to my 12+ hours of gaming a day self. And it's thanks to bungie. And thank you for your service as well. I salute you sir you are a good guy.
