Why does my look sensitivity change when I'm sprinting?

So, since halo 1, I've been cranking my look sensitivity almost all the way up.. It's pretty much the first thing I look for in an fps. Destiny's got that base covered (although sound sliders are MIA...). However, when sprinting, all of a sudden, my look sensitivity, drops to 2 or 3, when i have my senaitivity set to 9 or 10 and I find myself running into/against walls trying to turn around without stopping sprinting.. Mainly for shoulder charge.. Turning my sensitivity all the way up doesn't help, the lowered sensitivity seems to remain the same (doesn't seem to scale with the base sensitivity). Can we drop the lowered look sensitivity effect from sprinting or at least make it optional in the settings? Or is this part of the design? If it is, does someone with insider knowledge care to explain why it's there? What made it necessary?

Working as they wanted it to be designed. Bungie talks about "weapon down" moments when you make a tactical choice between being ready for combat, or engaging in actions that transition you between/through combat (like sprinting or ascending the double jump). It's meant to encourage forethought rather than have you rely on reactivity, especially in PvP. This is aided with the always-on Radar that detects crouching or invisible players, too. Technically speaking, nobody can ever actually sneak up on you. That's also why there's the internal sprint cooldown.

  • The point is to simulate not being able to turn/look quickly while sprinting, kinda like in GoW. Also if you turn/look too fast you will actually stop running. This means that you can also stop your sprint (backpedal for a split second) and then look around normally. Use the sprint to get from point A to point B quickly, not as your default speed (otherwise they might as well just make it the default move speed).

In all console games, the sensitivity can be set, but at a fixed speed. I play a lot of Battlefield, COD and other games and they all feel good, with a consistent turning speed. Whenever I start playing a new game, the 1st thing I do is to double up the sensitivity from the default setting (the default setting are normally good when starting off). In destiny, the accelerated sensitivity makes for a very inconsistent experience. I have seen lots of people complaining about controller sensitivity, and this is the reason, so please review the sensitivity by making the turning speed constant depending on the sensitivity that you select, because everyone has a different preference that works for them. I have tried different sensitivity settings in Destiny, from 3 up to 10, but the inconsistent turning speed just makes for an, well, inconsistent bad experience.

  • The sensitivity NEEDS to be higher and this also needs to be changed. It's a fps for god sake. Take a page out of cods book. It's about the only thing they're getting right these days. I feel like im running around with lead weights on Destiny. People with good reaction and good aim are being handicapped and it's just not fair. Give the option to disable aim assist as well ffs...

  • This was one of my complaints in the beta
