Has anyone else noticed that glimmer only goes so far before it's basically useless, sure you use it to upgrade gear and buy the class items for any of the factions or a new sparrow or ship but what happens when you don't need any of those? That glimmer just sits there. And you need to earn crucible and vanguard marks. I find this rather pointless that you can't use glimmer to buy armor from let's say dead orbit. It doesn't make sense to me

Edited by ChaosFross: 9/19/2014 3:09:48 AMI never really had the need to buy the ammo synthesis.. I got ammo from runnin over dead bodies. But ever since I had so much glimmer, I've been buyin those. Dropship, or sparrows, I've been buyin those. We should be able to buy material.

Buy ammo reserves. Especially heavy ammo.

Glimmer is used to boost your cryptarch rank at a higher level! Farm glimmer -> buy greens from the cryptarch for usedul item parts as well as rep -> level up and get a legendary package
-
I use it to buy cyrptark engrams to boost myself that few xp I need to reach the next level
-
It's funny you said this because today I couldn't take my reward from the engram guy because I apparently "had no space" for any more glimmer. I think I had 26000 or something. So I just started buying ammo in bulk.
-
Glimmer is easy to obtain only because you don't use it. If there was a reason to have it, say repairs or something, it would have value. But as is? I just buy ammo packs to stock up for raids.
-
Or they can let us buy materials and custom shader modules.

Edited by IRONHAND8692: 9/17/2014 7:48:23 PMMaybe they could make glimmer able to buy extra storage in vault. Also I could see a huge exchange rate for marks like 25k for 1 mark per rank you have achieved, I.e. vanguard rank of 3 would give 3 marks for 75k of glimmer once per week. Just an idea. Many would probably hate it, but I agree we need more reasons to collect glimmer.
-
I beg to differ. When I cap out my glimmer I take to the cryptarch and load up on engrams. Helps me rank up and gives my glimmer a reason to exist. Not to mention I net me a few legendary engrams in the process.

Glimmer is such a rare resource in the lore but in game? it is the most useless addition to Destiny. Items are overpriced for a time but as soon as you hit level cap you hardly use it again. If we had an in game marketplace we could make use of glimmer a bit more and actually buy decent items with it.
-
It's needed to buy weapon ammo packs, which are life saving in the nightfall strike and other similarly difficult strikes.
-
It seems like glimmer is the easiest thing to rack up & yet its so useless. I would prefer to have a balance between the currencies. For example, maybe there could be a 50% chance of getting glimmer from monsters and 50% chance for vanguard marks to drop?
-
Or at the very least and e change rate.
-
Agree...too many in game currencies.
-
I wouldn't say 25k per mark but have a weekly amount you can exchange for
-
I suppose for parts to upgrade buy other then that like other gear for mass glimmer or something
-
Do what I did and drop 25k on engrams.
-
So please we need something more to do with glimmer
-
They need to make glimmer more useful I have 15k and nothing to upgrade
-
The glimmer is used to upgrade weapons and armor alongside the required items.
-
And then its capped at only 25k lol.
