new article about raids & matchmaking

Hey gang sorry to beat the dead horse but just found a new article about Raids and the decision to NOT have matchmaking. I enjoyed it, I liked the thoughts of the author and I thought I'd post it. Not interested in beating the horse, starting a war, flame bait, or whatever else the trolls care about. Just thought it was a good read. It may open up a few folks brains about why Bungie went in that direction. Maybe a few people that are upset about it will give it a chance, read the article and then say "oh, I didn't think about it like that, well okay, I can see a different perspective", "maybe I'll wait and play the full game and then decide". But enjoy and see you all starside.

  • The thing with raids is that according to Bungie their difficulty will require a group of six skilled and determined players who have coordinated a strategy that they are willing to work at and implement for a large chunk of time (possibly 3-8 hrs). Matchmaking just won't be able to make that group happen. Having a team/raid mate drop out of a game is frustrating to every gamer, from casual to hardcore, and in this instance it would cause almost certain failure. The only way Bungie could hope to ensure this combination of players with the previous attributes came together is to have them put an equal amount of effort into forming a raid party as the individuals would be putting into completing the raids themselves. I don't think most players have issue with the proposed difficulty of the raids so adjusting that won't solve anything. Just my thoughts
