Add matchmaking to weekly strikes and raids, please. *POLL INCLUDED*

Yay, I support matchmaking for these features

Nay, matchmaking is a bad idea for these features

Now it's not that I have no friends, it's that they either don't have Destiny or we have conflicting work/class schedules, meaning it will be nearly impossible for us to experience these features. I understand that the lack of matchmaking is supposedly to try to make it so the fireteam communicates to beat a mission that's more challenging than usual, but this going to limit a large potion of the community from experiencing the full game. Why not just allow matchmaking? If a player wants to play with a bunch of friends and use voice chat, they still can, and if someone is unable to find people, they can just use matchmaking. Adding matchmaking does not detract from these features at all.

  • Yes for all. Then we can use them or not as we see fit.

  • I vote yes for weekly heroic and nightfall, but no for raid. the raid requires too much communication and I personally wouldn't use the matchmaking for it even if it was an option.

    • You only have one character at lvl 22, this is irrelevant to you anyway.

    • I voted no, but for a decent reason, if you go I with randoms that you found through a matchmaking system, you probably have to way of communications... Majority of the time, the other people in a normal strike are in a party or not talking at all...

I'll play the Devil's Advocate and say that there is plenty of reason not to add it. It seems highly improbable to randomly assemble a cohesive team of unknowns to do something as complex as what a raid describes. And I'm not mistaken, I think you can save your progress throughout the week? How likely is it to get a group of randoms to have this kind of commitment. What this would lead to would be a ton of threads "PREVENT PEOPLE FROM QUITTING OUT OF A RAID", etc. etc. or "We were at the end of the raid and person X quit now we have to start all over again". I will struggle in finding a team too, but this is one of the most unique requirements I've seen in a game and I find it refreshing. Furthermore, in every strike I've been on, not one person had a mic enabled. That just won't fly.

      • Agreed. I have a fairly small friends list, and only one of them currently plays Destiny, so any method to bring players together would be nice. I feel like I'm missing out on the most interesting stuff.

      • OK.... There is a match making system for Crucible(s). There is a match making system for Vanguard Strikes. Why is there not a match making system for Weekly Heroics Strikes, Weekly Nightfall Strikes, and Raids. (where it is needed most). Make it where people who have Destiny can communicate with each other, make guilds, make in game friends, so they can plan raids. INSTEAD of tell your friends and family to buy Destiny so you can do raids/weeklies (marketing scheme). Don't get me wrong "I Love Destiny" and have played every day since it came out (including Beta) but tired of having to do daily heroics and weekly heroics by myself cause my real life friends don't have a PS4 or Destiny. Bungie we did our part by buying Destiny, supporting Destiny now do your part and support the players, please..... Thanks ps. Looking for players (PS4) for weeklies, nightfalls, and raids. My PSN: stonerkracker82

        • I agree that matchmaking should be in for raids, and for the weekly strike. I am really blown away that the weekly does not have it. Quite simply whomever it was that came up with the idea is a imbecile. Ok maybe that is harsh but come on!! Now some if us have to come here, or to destinylfg.net to try to find a fireteam. I simply do not have any friends that have upgraded to the X1 and rely on the match making. As such if anyone wants to group with a level headed laid back 34 year old gamer let me know Gamer Tag is (wyldertm)

This "friends only" raids/daily/weekly mission requirement is one of the most idiotic systems to be implemented in an online game, especially this game. Can someone that has been in one of the friends only raids/daily/weekly missions explain how these missions use different tactics that require friends and comms to beat it? Or do you still use the same tactics in all other areas of the game solo or with a random fireteam to beat missions....shoot enemy, take cover behind objects when the enemy shoots at you, revive fallen comrades when you can, repeat. Seriously this is not a true MMO where actual raid strategy is needed (20+ players). They need to remove this restriction and add in game comms either voice or text. I keep my friends list small becauseI know them in RL but only few play destiny and we are never really on at the same time. 90% of the time when I play coop games I am playing with random people, most of the time its good sometimes its bad but if I cant coop with friends I want the option to be able to join random fireteams so I can actually play the parts of the game I want to! Get rid of it seriously. Thank you.

        • No true social hub in game plus no proximity voice or text chat makes this a neccessity.

            • I didn't even realize the weekly strike didn't use matchmaking until I tried it today and found myself there alone >.< I also don't know anyone who plays so I rely on matchmaking to find groups. If they feel voice chat is really necessary why not have an option to enable it while in a strike?

            • There is no reason not to add matchmaking, they are just denying people access to game content because of it.
