Loot System Needs A LOT OF WORK!!!

Now, I know plenty of people have had problems with the loot system, and for good reason. Now, these engrams are good and all, but the randomness is way too much. If you find a blue, I can understand a legendary from it being for any class, but when you find a LEGENDARY ENGRAM the legendary should be ONLY for your class. If they dropped more frequently, I'd understand. If they were GUARANTEED to be legendary, I'd understand, but I have been shafted so much the last couple of days that I just can't take it anymore. I feel like I'm at my peak and will never progress any further. Today, I have been incredibly lucky. I found 6 legendary engrams after an entire day of grinding content and managed to obtain a single legendary from them. AND THEY WERE A PIECE OF GEAR I ALREADY HAD. Had legendary boots, and was given another pair. One of them gave me two strange coins. TWO! Now, I know how cheap exotic items are at being thirteen coins each, but to get only two out of a legendary engram is an insult due to the overall rarity. I know how lucky I was, as my friend has only found one the entire week, and it's outrageous. Not to mention that all of that and I got one legendary, two coins and the rest being trash blues. I FOUND LEVEL 16 GEAR FROM THEM! I didn't even get level 20 gear from it. This system is horribly flawed. Now, I understand that you don't want people progressing too quickly, even though that was blown out of the water by a level 26 in the first 9 hours, but COME ON! If something that rare drops, I shouldn't be getting shafted so hard. I thought my character would be getting better, but I now appear to be stuck. If you find an engram of a certain quality then the MINIMUM quality of loot to come from it should be the same. If you find a higher quality from it then it could be justified by being for a random class, but not if the item is the same quality as the engram. It should be for the class you decrypt it with. If you find a blue engram it should be blue quality at the minimum, and if it becomes a legendary, make it as it is and have it be for a random class. If you find a legendary engram, then the minimum it should be should be a legendary for your current class. I sincerely hope that this gets addressed as this is atrocious. I love this game, but without any form of solid and reliable progression, it will just drop off. No one wants to be toyed with. No one wants to feel like their effort is wasted. That's what my time today has been: wasted. I almost don't want to get back on this game because I feel like I'm going to get nothing out of it now. I actually feel like taking it back. As good as this game is, it is heavily focused around gear progression at higher levels. Without it, there is no content progression. If you want the loot system to stay the way it is then open up player trading. How many people do you think actually WANT to make new characters? I'm not saying I don't, but people just want to focus on one character, then the loot system gives them useless, but amazing, gear for another class and they are stuck with it. P.S. Fix the crucible loot system. I don't know what the requirements are to obtain loot, but I have had too many games where the best on the team gets nothing and one person gets everything.

The loot system *is not there to hold your hand*. It's supposed to be hard to get this stuff; this is how loot-heavy games work. Given Destiny's item structure, there's not a lot of other ways it could work. And for the record, in games like this progression is never "reliable"; pray to the RNG gods, as generations of gamers have before you (if there are reliable ways to get rare stuff, for example, there tend to be vast gulfs in the relative value of gear in the same tier, and getting stuff that's of no use to you is a matter of course). And there seem to be no requirements for Crucible loot - nor should there be. Far as I can tell it's random assignment of who gets rewards, which prevents a number of possible exploits and prevents new players from being locked out of the reward system. And honestly, as unintuitive as it may sound, a certain amount of frustration is an element to any good game, without which their opposite number loses value.

    • All of my legendaries (about 5) had been rare gear or motes of light.

    • Wanna talk about flawed? I got 4 leg. Engrams ever, all containing motes of light. I got my first legendary weapon... Guess how? From a blue engram. Nothing makes since anymore...

    • Out of the 8 I have found or been rewarded with I have been extremely lucky to have received 2 pieces of legendary gear but unlucky enough gor them to both be for a titan so the character I haven't leveled is better geared than my hunter yes its frustrating but oh well it keeps you playing. None of the people that claimed it was gonna be so easy and short have scratched the surface yet. Seems they took a page out of ffxi sky playbook. Those who played know the pain and the joy of that.

    • Crucible loot is based on time played not how good you are... That's one of the staples of the game.
