First. I would like to congratulate bungie on trying something differant and (mostly) succeeding. Now that the pleasantries are done, i would like to offer some suggestions, from one games designer to another, as i think you have missed some big opportunities here:
1. Sparrow races, nuff said.
2. Larger fire teams (5+ at least) 3 is WAY too restrictive.
3. More variety of quest (collect quests, kill 'specific' quests, find quests [without markers], against clock quests).
4. More rewards from rare mob kills in patrol. 25 glimmer is a terrible reward. Add resources, items, anything to make them actually worth killing.
5. Differant heavy weapons (how about a super heavy sniper rifle with extreme range but immobalizes the player, or the ability to call in your ship to straff the battle field in a single run.)
6. Give the option to have a utility instead of a heavy weapon. Maybe give a grapple line to get to hard to reach ledges or maybe allow your ghost to fly up and do a detailed scan of the battle field so you can see where everyone is exactly within a certain range. The range could be improved with subsiquent upgrades.
7. More variety on the sparrows. Give some weapons but lower endurance, or some a higher speed, make some heavily armoured but slower (maybe ground based). I should point out WEAK weapons only. Maybe allow players to mount their primary weapon on the front???
8. More than one resource per map. Its unrealistic.
9. Some quests where you get to take over walkers would be AWSOME. maybe in story mode or a strike.
10. You could do with more strikes. I realize its early days but this should definitly be a priority.
11. Raise the glimmer cap. 25000g is WAY too low. Keep in mind you are drawing in pc mmo players (wether that was your target or not). They are used to grinding. Feed the market your given. It wont effect none mmo players. + thus extends the playability of the game.
12. Infact, raise all the caps. For reasons, see above.
13. Armor appearance customisation. I.e. change one piece of armour to look like another but keep the stats. The best way of doing this was on the mmo "rift" where you had a second character screen called wardrobe, here if a piece of armour is placed JUST the physical model of the armour worn is overridden.
14. Allow skills like double jump and glide on the tower map, seriously, it infuriating. :)
15. My biggest recommendation would be to allow ship customisation, spore style. If it from a limited stock of parts the load time while in fire teams would be minimal. And when solo it could be stored locally so no lag at all. I know this would be a chore but combined with 5. and/or 16. would be awsome.
16. If not then what about a level where you actually fly your ship (i realise that would be a fairly major update, but would be cool.) I.e. star fox style.
