Sure, sure, sure. I understand the game is in space. I guess I get that on the moon or on Mars or wherever, your human character needs a helmet, but why are we forced to wear one in Russia? This is Earth. We have oxygen. Sure, the planet looks fairly ravaged, but if I can breathe on the tower where the atmosphere is thinner because of the higher elevation, I should be good down in the dirt. We spend time making characters. Let's have an opportunity to see them! And on that note... Do Exo's really need helmets? Do they breathe? And Awoken's too. We know so very little about these species. Just a thought.
I have an Exo Warlock whose head looks cooler than any of the helmets for him. He looks like a robot version of Darth Maul. I'd like to zip around on my sparrow and use my fancy force push move on the baddies as robo Darth Maul personally.

Better idea, add a "Hide Helmet" option and allow players to wear their helmet in the tower.

Ok one: the helmets are more for armor than oxygen. Two: they had a golden age of technology there is probably oxygen on the other planets too. And three: if there isn't oxygen on the other planets the air might not be clean enough to breath in Russia and you would be able to breath one the tower because the traveler is there providing clean air for that area.

It would be nice

Think of it more like a combat helmet = defense.
