First off, let me say I've never loved a Beta before. It was a new experience.
Now to the point! I'm not sure I understand why there are 3 people per fireteam. It seems odd to me (no pun intended). But thats how it is! I was wondering if we'll get to play on servers with out friends who are in their own fire teams. So say a LIVE party of 5 can split into fire teams of 3 and 2 wander the wonders of the Moon together before dipping into missions separately. Might we see that in the launch? or a later update?
Thanks for any info and consolidation!

Bungie employees stated according to their research (what all this research included I have no clue) 3 was the sweet spot. I am just guessing the content is made for a small group of people and they want to try to keep it challenging enough you are not bulldozing over everything.

Actually, during the beta, I found myself running across people on my friends' list that I wasn't grouped with on more than one occasion. I know they've mentioned that part of the matchmaking process in explore and what not is geographical. But I know that guy is halfway across the US from me, so I have to imagine it's partially friend list related to. I honestly don't know how, but the odds of me and him being in a game together are astronomically small given how big the beta was, so I have to believe it wasn't a coincidence. I was in a fire team of 2 and he was in one of 3.
