Suggestion: All primaries should be "automatic?"

One thing that bothered me a little bit when I played the Beta...after a while of using any primary weapon that wasn't the auto rifle, my trigger finger would start getting tired. Maybe it's just because I'm getting older and I could be the only one that had this problem...but I was thinking how much better all the primaries would be if I didn't have to pull the trigger every single time I wanted to fire it. "Why not just hold the trigger down like the auto rifle?" I thought. Take the pulse rifle as an example, currently when you pull the trigger you fire 3 shots. When you hold the trigger down it does nothing. I'd like it if when I hold the trigger down, it fired as fast as the weapon possibly could fire, 3 shots at a time, then 3 shots, then 3 shots etc. That would make it so much easier to kill enemies in this game...because they're just so many of them and they all take plenty of body shots to kill them anyway. The scout rifle is another example. Hold the trigger down now and it does nothing. I'd like to hold the trigger down and fire 1 shot at a time without having to pull the trigger so much. Anyone else agree with this? Edit: I realize some of the end game primaries already have an auto function like "Bad Juju" for example, so it would take some tweaking on the part of the developers after the game comes out. It's not a huge deal, and I'm still going to buy the game anyway. But I can only imagine how hard it would be currently for some 55 year old person with arthritis - they'd practically be relegated to the auto-rifle!

  • Maybe if they made it as more of an option in the controller set-up, but not so much as a feature forced on everyone else. I honestly prefer them the way they are, but I haven't really had quite as much an issue. As I tried using a pulse rifle, no problem, only when I started using a hand-cannon did I start to get aches after running two missions back-to-back. I figure just taking a break for a little while would make it easier.

    • tbh, I'm not real happy with controls like that. Especially on something with a true semi-auto, which none of the scout rifles I found had. With weapons like those I tend to want the gun to only fire once when I pull the trigger, especially on the one's with more recoil. I've found that many of those tend to fire a second shot, or burst that I don't want them to while I'm trying to line up a follow up. It could just be a matter of tuning though. On the other hand the guns in Destiny are probably easier on my hands than one's where you mash the trigger as fast as you can to get a fire rate out of a semi-auto gun. I wouldn't mind if they did it right, there's just been poorly done versions of this "feature" I've run into in the past. I honestly can't remember which game either, it may have been one of the old, old shooters. As far as it goes it's something I certainly don't want personally, I'd like to fire my burst and semi-auto at the rate I can line up shots if it's outside the minimum refire, not at the predetermined rate of fire the gun has, that said, if it doesn't fire when I remove my finger from the trigger it's not going to mess with me either. Getting a modded controller is actually a reasonable option to work around it if it's not added, I doubt it will be.

    • Just use ARs then, having nothing but automatic weapons defeats the purpose of having more than one kind of gun, and is pointless.

      • This is why assault rifles appeal to most.

Auto Rifle: Spray and Pray Pulse Rifle: Aim well, but you can still get away with body shots Scout Rifle: He/she who aims, shall win Hand Cannon: People actually use this? Edit: Also, why would a 55 year old person who has arthritis play this game? Clicking X, Square, Triangle, Circle, track pad, aiming, shooting, and just holding the controller itself will wreck their joints just by moving the joysticks.

              • No bad idea. If you're playing long enough that your hands start hurting, you should stop playing.

                        • I prefer accuracy over rof whick is why my fav atm is a pulse rifle i didnt use it much but loved to way it handled. U can change controls around which should solve it.

                            • No. If you want a scout rifle that has auto fire, there's actually one in-game with that ability. Otherwise, you just need to train your trigger finger.
