Game installation on day one
Any idea if the game will require internet for the initial installation or will it just be directly installed from the disc? A

BEGINNING TRANSMISSION: (Low melodious hum.) I believe an offline installation is possible, however an active internet connection is necessary to complete it. (An active internet connection is necessary to play Destiny.) ENDING TRANSMISSION:

Chances are, you can probably install from the disk offline. An Internet connection is needed to actually play Destiny though.

Yes you need internet to play the game and on install you will have to update to current version on their servers. No matter what you will need internet.

At the bottom in tiny type: "An internet connection is required to play Destiny." It doesn't say if you need one to install it though.
