Feedback: I'm surprised no one has given their feedback on this lately

This is genuine feedback. I'm surprised no one has expressed their "preferences" for bigger scale modes... maybe people are busy crying about time zones? The Numbers Game For the Tower It is touted as a social hub, in your game you allow Clans to be up to 100 people. If you expect 100 people to interact with each other, shouldn't you facilitate and even encourage that interaction? We can see other people outside of our 6 man group so clearly the technology allows for more people there (up 16 in the beta). Has anyone among the higher ranks in Bungie said: "if we have allow clans to be all the way up to 100 members, shouldn't we encourage those people to gather together as much as they can in the actual game?" I don't know, a community without a game can only grow so much and not everyone is a forum goer but ultimately: your game - not your forums - is what is going to hold people together. For PvP: 6v6 and 3v3 ... even HALO had 8v8 ... other games support 9v9 and 12v12 and even more with next gen consoles. Now I understand Bungie has the creative freedom and their vision of their game and what they want to make. To be honest so far what I played the maps felt very balanced and they never felt neither too big so that you "needed" more player nor too small so that you needed less players in order to have room to breathe. That said, it is surprising that no one inside Bungie has said: "What if we try to put more people in a game than we have ever tried before?" sure someone inside Bungie must have more than 5 friends they normally play with. For PvE: Explore 3 Player: Why can I go and "freely" explore a world with 3 of my friends and even encounter other players within that same world but I can't group up with more than 3 of them. Again, I understand things like Strike missions, even story missions that were designed with 1-3 people in mind, so adding more people to that will inevitably entail more than just allowing members to enter the game but when I can go into Old Russia with 2 friends and see other 3 man groups standing right beside me, them shooting at the same monsters that I am shooting at... that just means bungie doesn't mind that 16 people shoot at one little Fallen. I understand all concerns with matchmaking, times needed to organize bigger groups, etc. but when the technology seems to be there I just wonder if anyone of the 500 people working at Bungie have ever voice similar concerns. You dont need a 150 man Clan to get a few friends online, let's say 8 people on at the same time.... as it stands right now, if you have 4 friends online... just you and 3 more people on your friends list, you HAVE to play PvP because any other game mode announced so far (except for Raid) is meant to be played with 3 people. I understand why Bungie is very adamant to let people call this game an MMOFPS, because among other things, Massive, is not a word I'd use in a world I can only experience with two other friends at a time. Even if Bungie is considering adding bigger "Game Modes" or "Massive" scale maps in the future via DLC (Expansion)... that shouldn't make much sense, fragmenting the player base with game modes that potentially demand more time to get going, etc. Of course, I don't expect this to be "magically addressed" nor do I expect Bungie to come out and say "we'll fix this for you" but at least I hope that they read it and comment on it or if it has already been addressed, I hope one of you kind people on these forums can point me in the right direction to read their statement. Because it is really surprising to me that no one seems to mention this topic at all. I'd be surprised if I was the only one thinking this...

  • You're not the only one, rest assured. I too have thought about the numbers they've chosen. However, I haven't heard anything from Bungie in this regard. I suppose all we can do is trust that Bungie knows what they're doing, and will make the best call for the game and community as a whole.

I'm just hoping maybe later on they announce some sort of mode for bigger matches! Also possibility of an option to join friends in Explore mode even if they have a full fire team just to have fun together in explore

          • For PVP, Id think at least 12 v 12 would be necessary. My problem with PvP was people ragequitting. It was 6v6 and if someone ragequit, it always bogged down your team and most of the time it meant you are going to lose. And other players would follow most of the time, leaving you stranded. That happened to me many times and both me and my friend were stranded one match, getting trampled since it became 6v2. Please increase the player counts.

              • Great ideas. This game has been said to be Bungie's biggest. Yet, the amount of player interaction is a bit smaller, compared to other games.

                • Agree with you totally, a game that emphasises social interaction should be social. Bungie seem to have defined social differently than most other people, the only social interaction I had, not being a multiplayer gamer in general (I subscribed to PSN for a month to play the beta) was waving and dancing at other people. If I join two other ransoms for a strike mission why can't I talk to them?

I do wish the Tower had more people in it, but Bungie has explained the fireteam size as well as the 3v3/6v6 game modes for PvP. http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2014/08/16/-destiny-devs-explain-fireteam-size-old-russian-real-estate-and-the-unbeatable-ogres-from-the-beta.aspx Read that and you will get your answer as to why they did what they did.

                  • Your first point is the best. Run with it. How will you chose what players to pick out of your clan to play with? You can't play with all of them. I keep saying " it was Beta", I hope we see more players in the world.

                    • I would imagine they are taking the WoW route when it comes to grouping in the game world. In wow you can group up to five people together to accomplish quests and what not. With the scale of the game being smaller I can understand why there's three. The difficulty of the game wouldn't scale well with larger groups. Imagine if you had a coordinated team of sixteen people doing quests and what not. The enemies wouldn't stand the slightest chance at victory thus removing the difficulty of the game which could in turn cause burn out a lot faster. I enjoy the thrill of a game. The hint if danger that you could get smoked if you're not paying attention. If all I'm out the doing is running and gunning with no fear of running out of ammo or dying, then there isn't much reason for me to play.

                      • I've noticed that the lag in this game is almost nonexistent compared to BF4. My SO and I even compared both games (our screens side by side) by standing in front of each other and moving side to side. Destiny looks like it has virtually no lag compared to BF4 which has a 1-2 second lag time. That said, if Bungie has to compromise quality for quantity, I'd rather they keep what they currently had going. I'm tired of lagfests, especially when an opponent from a different region gets to have a lag advantage over me. .

                              • While I'm not a fan of the Crucible, I do feel like Bungie did find a good balance with player count. More players don't mean more fun. From my time with the beta, the maps felt good in the sense of how big they were, espeically the map thats on the moon that includes vehicles. The only time player count was ever an issue was when teams were unbalanced - which is a constant inevitability in games but its an issue thats so much more noticeable on lower player counts such as 6v6 or 4v4 where the difference in team numbers can be game changing. All that being said, I believe the player count is fine in the Crucible. I would have personally liked a fourth person to be apart of a fireteam for co-op, but I do understand making it 3 because of the 3 classes available.

                                    • Having clan specific towers is something I am interested in. The expansion of clans from 75 to 100 likely further buried this idea though. I don't see it ever happening.

I agree, why cant we group up with other fire-teams in explorer mode? If each instance allows "X" amount of people why could i not take multiple fire-teams of clan members and go explore. Hopefully they will figure it out in the future that if the want us to share the experience with other people they are going to have to change how clans and fire teams function as a hole when ingame.
