From the "Destiny Behind Closed Doors Demo - E3 2013," am wanting destiny to be huge. Though I have had a few voices in the back of my head saying "is the beta map size (the free-roam map) going to be the standard map size or is it really as big as Bungie says it is?"
Be if the maps are large or small, I will still play Destiny. I just still hope that Bungie will keep to what they said in the demo.
What do you think?

They have big maps and small maps. You've seen four of them at most, so maybe you oughta chill before you come to such a conclusion.
-
How about just get the Expansion packs? Sound good, great then you can all stop crying.

Saw about 4 or 5 arias on old Russia I'm sure would be open in the real game that was not open in the beta and this arias probably lead to others .... unless they link back to one of the already beta released arias overall I say it looks like a good chance maps will be pretty huge... besides old Russia can't be the only free roam map on earth..... can it?

This is my argument to all that complain about level size! I will give you 4 bottles of Jack Daniels whiskey OR 68 shot glasses of Jack Daniels whiskey Guess what?!!!
ITs THE SAME DAMN AMOUNT !!
Yep that's right, so if anyone complains it's only 4 areas, well Bungie could have split them up, added more loading screens and said we have 68 levels to explore. Lmao

1) too soon to know 2) Destiny is massive as whole project and activities and time you will pass on it 3) Bungie never said that map will be the bigghest map ever, they said that it's the bigghest game they ever made, but they are not know for having giant maps in their games so for that to be true it'll not need that much

Too soon to know. Sounds like the expansion will all be underground for the moon so have to see what exactly we have for PvE in the way of size. Various area were closed off in the beta and don't know yet what will be found, just rooms or more area to explore.
-
Mars and Venus seem bigger than old russia, just saying.
-
the beta was only 2/3 of old Russia (or was it half?)
-
Just what we saw in the beta seemed to me to be pretty big. Not skyrim big but then again if video games were porn skyrim would be the big one.....who would lose it after a couple of attempts. Haha.
-
Both mars and Venus are bigger than earth from what bungie has shown us in the vids. And we couldn't check out everything on earth and only got two hours with the moon. Plus there's still the reef nobody has seen yet. Who knows how large that is.
-
They have bigger and smaller maps. So asking for either is a little shortsighted.
-
I'll be sure to come back and vote when I actually play the full game and see how big the map is. Sorta hard to gauge considering the beta was one area and stuff was blocked off to us.

Edited by gallp13: 8/24/2014 5:11:57 AMWe have seen 2 part maps in one beta. Let's wait and see what Bungie have actually built before we all jump the gun. My sense is bungie know how to make FPS certainly better than we folk on the forum and so probably have us covered quite nicely. Bungie have confirmed expansion packs and hinted at new worlds as the years progress. I don't think we have to worry and the survey results seem to agree.

Honestly, the only change to mapping that would make sense would be to make everything one massive map. Otherwise, I don't feel that there would be any benefit from expanding the size of the maps.
