Do you feel that it is bad when a developer ports a game?

Examples being... The Last of Us: Remastered Halo: Master Chief Collection Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition Metro: Redux There has been a lot of debate on the subject of developers porting games. Most claiming it to be a simple cash grab. Do you think it hurts the developers in the end? Do you feel that instead they should be working on something new? Personally I don't mind it. I never got the chance to play The Last of Us for PS3, so when the Remastered version released on PS4, you're damn right I picked it. And I absolutely love it. As a lover of Halo, the MCC is almost enough to make me break down and get a Xbox One to go along with my PS4. But not quite. 4 of the greatest Xbox games for $60 is definitely a steal though. And personally I like Uncharted more than Tomb Raider so I'll take A Thief's End over Rise of The Tomb Raider Porting games isn't a bad thing. Look at Metro: Redux. An excellent franchise. I was a little disappointed that Last Light focused more on fast paced action as opposed to 2033's slower horror survival vibe. But it was still awesome. And being on PS4, I get to play 2033 again, I approve. And so will other PS4 owners who missed Metro 2033 last gen because it was a 360/PC exclusive. How do you feel on the subject?

  • I get annoyed when a developer ports a game from last gen to current gen when the game is barely a year old on last gen. And to top it off, they charge full price for you to buy the same game that you already have. It's just dirty business practices. Addendum: if Dark Souls 2 ever comes out for current gen systems, I will buy it again as I curse Fromsoft for doing that to me.

      • Last of us and halo are exceptions because they are exclusive like I had a 360 then went to ps4 so I never got a chance to play last of us till remastered gave me the chance.

        • Really depends. I honestly think we don't need all these next-gen ports of GTAV and Last of Us. They're just making shiny game shinier. I absolutely love the Halo MCC collection because I cant play CE or 2 online and 2 is a ten year old game. In the end, I really don't care. New games are always nice but it's still awesome to go back to a good game. It gets developers good cash and makes some fans happy. You can't please everyone.
