Hunters - Gunslinger (PvE)

[b][i]This is not meant to cause controversy but to just lay out an idea I thought was quite needed (PvE) [/i][/b] Ok, so personally I think a lot of people who played as a Hunter (myself included) can agree that we look at the gunslinger class as a class which is a single target DPS class while Titan and Warlock are based more on crowd control considering we are talking about striker and voidwalker with both there grenades and there supers having quite the effect in large groups, obviously. Now since the [b]second[/b] subclass was introduced to the hunter; (blade dancer) which caught a lot of people's eyes and makes everyone want to play as them due to the high burst damage it can do and how much sustain it has. Ive noticed nobody really wants to play as a gunslinger now because the lack of how well the golden gun does in PvE , even when you're focusing just on one enemy it usually takes all 3 of your shots just to down him that is if we're talking about a [b]Hive wizard[/b] [u]OR[/u] [b]Fallen captain[/b] (because of their shields considering it's full) now what I thought should be implemented is that the golden gun should have to chance to have a critical strike because you figure you'd hit them in a weak spot you'd do higher damage but that's not the case because even in The Devils Lair I feel like I should've had more of a presence in damage I put out against the bosses when I hit them in a weak spot and before you say it'd effect PvP if gunslingers golden gun was buffed someway it wouldn't considering [b]GOLDEN GUN IS SINGLE SHOT KILL IN PVP ALREADY CRITICALS WOULDNT MATTER.[/b] But yeah I just think that was just a flaw I saw and would have a big effect in raids when you have titans and warlocks more support based playing with you and you're looked at as the damage output I'd rather not be running in the middle of a firefight with a knife without expecting to go down like a sack of potatoes and playing smarter with the gunslinger class.   • Gunslinger is pretty underpowered. It's so bad that it's almost shameful. It falls short completely and people aren't playing it, because it's kind of useless. If bungie doesn't buff it with the next patch, then I'll probably never play it again.

  • I like the idea of buffing the gunslinger as it is the useless out of all the subclass and does need some critical damage.

    I actually thought this too, it took me a little while to realise that the damage was just normalised whether you took the shot in their weak spots or not. After realising this I didnt bother using my GG at all for septiks prime, the devil walker or any other ultra/captain due to the fact it dealt less damage than precision hits from my sniper. It's a bit of an anticlimax. Also the fact GG is limited to 3 shots which deal limited damage, meaning at best you can kill 3 targets (possibly more with the ability which unlocks later allowing GG shots to penetrate). In comparison to the other 2 builds default subclasses which have the ability to kill off a large group (basically every enemy in a given radius) with a single activation right from the start, this makes the hunter feel really underpowered and limited in its usefulness in PvE situations for me.

  • Blade dancer is better against hordes and has a risk reward play style, gunslinger is better against bosses and has a play it safe play style. We don't know how enemies will react to camo and if moving/shooting effects it at all, but I'm sure bungie has already taken precautions to make the classes balanced. That being said as a gun GG should be able to get critical damage.

    • I didn't play the hunter very much so I could be way off but I think they tried to even them out more with the passive buffs to gunplay. The abilities that increased reload speed and gun stability and the throwing knife all give the hunter some slight advantages that make them more effective in small ways rather than a huge power placed on the super. All that being said I agree that Golden Gun could use a buff. I'd think just a plain damage boost would be great, at least be able to 2 shot a full health captain so you can take on at least one more guy.

      • I really think Gunslinger will prove to be by far the weakest PvE class unless Bungie tweak it somehow. Of course, not all the subclasses can be brilliant at everything, but if one of the subclasses has a significant disadvantage then perhaps a couple of small tweaks would be in order.
